Some security historic prices disappearing

I'm running 2017.8 v1691 with Windows 10.

Most days, I import security prices into Moneydance using the Security Price Loaded to import a csv file of prices from Yahoo.

I also manually import the price for UK sovereigns from time to time as I haven't found a way of automating this.

However I happened to notice recently that the sovereign prices entered since 3 August this year have disappeared. I therefore worried all my historic prices might have somehow been erased. Luckily, the ones entered via the loader are still present, but it doesn't solve the issue of the manually entered ones.

I have two issues.

First, not sure I can find the relevant sovereign prices to re-enter them, and second, if I do somehow find them, I'm worried they will disappear again if I do go to the trouble of re-entering them.

Any thoughts on either the problem or a resolution?

Thanks

RobS

I am not support staff just a user.

First there is a preview build at https://infinitekind.com/preview
That allegedly fixes the issue of lost prises after a Moneydance shut down. Some people say it fixed the issue, some say it hasn’t, other it works if you enter the data and then hit enter and use the mouse to move to another line before you exit.
I don’t use manually entry myself, I use a free third-party system Quote Loader by Mike Bray & hleofxquotes. It obtains prices from FT and Yahoo and loads them into the history window. The next step from the Security Price Loader you are already using. See post 108 at http://help.infinitekind.com/discussions/investments/3771-third-par...

    Hope this helps

    Thanks Derek,

I downloaded the latest version and the problem persists, regardless of how I enter the data. I can click the "new" button, hit enter, click another line, chant abracadabra, and cross my fingers, but the data still disappears when I re-open Moneydance.

TO MD STAFF - how have you broken something so basic? Please fix it ASAP.

    Thanks

If anyone else cannot get manually entered security prices to stick after closing Moneydance, try this workaround to enter a range of prices for a period of time for any one stock.

Create a csv file with two columns. Call the first column (cell A1) Date and the second column (cell B1) Price

Add the dates and prices in the two columns and save the file

Open the history window for the stock and click Import then select "Import from file" and click the Import button.

Select the csv file and follow the prompt to import the data.

Doing this seems to make the data stick after closing Moneydance.

You can enter dummy data and edit it after import; the amended data seems to be held.

It takes ten minutes instead of ten seconds, but at least I can now trust the output from Moneydance, or I could if I hadn't lost the data I entered from 3 August until today...

    Derek,

I just want to thank you for the heads up about the price loader, which I've installed today. I can't use it to update the sovereign price, but it looks like I can manually enter that price into the loader which should ensure it stays put!

    Thanks,

    Hi Robs

Glad you were able to put the Quote Loader to good use. Yes you can manually add Prices and they should stick.

    Have Fun
