Quotes & Exchange on 2 computers
Hello - I am running a Mac desktop and a new MacBook. Both with the latest update 2017.10 (1706). I have an Alphavantage API key and this has been working fine for me on the desktop Mac. I have a new MacBook which sync's just fine and the same set-up with the API key in the quotes & exchange extension. When I update quotes on the MacBook, it returns only a $0.00 value. I had the same setup on my previous laptop and it worked flawlessly. I assume it's user error but can't figure out what I am doing wrong. Any ideas? Thank you.

Hi Dan,
Thank you for contacting us.
There is a confirmed issue with the Quotes and Exchange Rate extensions, the extensions displays the value $0.00 while updating, however the correct value is visible in the price history of the security once the update finishes.
There's an existing ticket in our ticketing system regarding this issue, so I've attached it to this discussion and the developers will be looking into it.

Thank you for the reply Henry. I want to point out that Q&E runs flawlessly on my existing desktop Mac as well as my old laptop which has been retired. I am having this problem only with the Macbook Air I recently purchased. Does it make sense that it works on my desktop (and old laptop) but not on my new MacBook Air?

That is very strange, is it possible that the version of the Q&E is different on both computers.
You can check this by opening Moneydance and navigating to Extensions > Manage Extensions, there you will see the version of the extension.

I am having the same problem. Moved from a MacBook Pro running Quotes and Exchange Rates Updater v1022 to a MacBook Air running Quotes and Exchange Rates Updater v1023. The version of Moneydance is the same on both machines, Moneydance v2017.10 (1706).

Same problem here. Just updated to 2017.10 (1706) to gain this feature, signed up for an API key, and let it rip. Confirmed the lower status bar is showing $0.00 prices, but spot checked a few securities and the prices are not zero.
It takes quite a while to go through a dozen lookups. Perhaps one lookup every 20 seconds? Is anyone else's updates this slow?
(Just posting here to get updates on when a fix is announced and downloadable.)
Oh, I should add that I removed the old extension and installed the latest. In "Manage Extensions" it is listed as "Quotes and Exchange Rates Updater" v1022 but it actually installs "Stock Quote Synchronizer" v1023. A little unsettling the names don't match (in terms of security...).

I'm a fellow user .
The free Alpha Vantage service is rate limited, go above the allowed rate and it errors out and you do not get any updates, hence why moneydance only does the update slowly in order to keep within the limit.
If you are in the US you could try using IEX as the source, that is reported to be faster but has a more limited range of securities.
