I seem to be unable top download online prices using the Quotes & Exchange Rates extensions.

Hi Derek
Make sure you are running the latest build of 2017 at https://infinitekind.com/download-moneydance-personal-finance-software
To check the build, you are running see HELP – ABOUT MONEYDANCE. e.g. 2017.10(1706)
Also check you are running the latest build of Quote and exchange rate updater v1023.
There are two methods within Moneydance 2017 for obtaining security prices automatically.
The extension “Quote and exchange rate updater. For exchange rates use the source European Central Bank. If your securities are in the US try IEX Trading first, if that does not support a security try Alpha Vantage. Alpha Vantage also cover some securities outside the US, but is very, very slow.
If the Quote and exchange rate updater does not work well for you try the free third-party Quote Loader see post 220 in this thread http://help.infinitekind.com/discussions/investments/3771-third-par...
It has far wider coverage and is fast.
Download the PDF attached to post 220 and have a read. To get an overview take a look at the YouTube video by using the link in the PDF.

I seem to have followed the download steps and dragged and dropped rhumba,mxt and started hhlefxquote.jar but I do not see the "Quote Loader" extension when I drag and drop securityquoteload.mxt. The warning came up on both and I accepted them.

Hi Derek
Can you confirm that after downloaded the three files you followed these installation steps.
1. Drag and drop securityquoteload.mxt into the Moneydance’s sidebar to install.
2. Drag and drop “rhumba.mxt into the Moneydance’s sidebar to install
3. Run the Rhumba extension from EXTENSIONS and Drag and drop hleofxquote.jar into the rhumba window.
Click on Quote Loader under EXTENSIONS.
In the PDF you will find a link to a YouTube video that shows the three elements of Quote Loader being installed take a look at that.
You talk about starting hleofxquote.jar, once installed it runs in the background no need to start it.
If after looking that the video your still have problems post the computer operating system you are running and provide as much information on what you are seeing and what is happening.

I had tried to use the newer version of securityquoteload. It has now worked withe older version. Thanks

I you mean the version of securityquoteload.mxt build 3001 then yes it does not work with Moneydance 2017. It is intended for moneydance 2019. Use build 2125 for MD 2017.
Note rhumba build 1037 is intended for MD 2019 its never been tested with MD 2017 so to be safe for MD 201 7install 1036.
