I am just trying out Money Dance and imported investments from Quicken which aside from a few blips is spot on. How does Money Dance update unit share prices

There are two methods within Moneydance 2017 for obtaining security prices automatically.
The extension “Quote and exchange rate updater” to be found under EXTENSIONS – MANAGE EXTENSIONS. For exchange rates use the source European Central Bank. If your securities are in the US try IEX Trading first, if that does not support all your security try Alpha Vantage. Follow the instructions to obtain a Alpha Vantage key. Alpha Vantage also cover some securities outside the US, but is very, very slow.
If the Quote and exchange rate updater does not work well for you try the free third-party Quote Loader see post 220 in this thread http://help.infinitekind.com/discussions/investments/3771-third-par...
It has far wider coverage and is fast.
