I am not support staff, just a user.
For support or others to be able to help you will need to post more information.
What is you computer operating system?
What version and build of Moneydance are you running e.g. 2017.10(1706) or may be 2019.0(1847)?
What build of the Quotes and Exchange Rates Updater perhaps v1024?
Provide a couple of security tickers and their names so they can be tested.

Sometime Alphvantage is slow in updating their data. Many users are finding toggling to IEX for security prices to be a better option. Also if you are not using multiple currencies, toggling this off also improves the functionality.

I also am not support staff, just a user. Thanks for the above. I am also seeing that updating the quotes works intermittently, and also seems to lag even days behind. I monitor 13 mutual funds, and late morning (eastern US), the updater shows 2 prices for 1/16 and all the others are still 1/15. I also see errors in the console window, but am unsure if these are related. I'm attaching the console log which also has my version and OS.

Hi doulos564,
Per your console log, you have a number of outdated extensions.
You should uninstall them or remove them manually from the /home/doug/.moneydance/fmodules folder.
I'm not a Linux user so I'm assuming that fmodules resides in the .moneydance folder as it does in Windows.

Thanks for that update. I cleaned up the outdated extensions by removing them from fmodules and removing their references in config.dict and config.dict2 in the parent directory. However, this does not change the intermittent issues with either update method. Do this error have any part in the problem (from the attached console log):

Hi doulos564
I other than there is a problem I can’t tell you what the error log is saying regarding the section you isolated. It looks like you still need to remove or update moneyforesight
However, I can tell you all 11 ticker symbols of yours return a valid price when the third-party Quote Loader is used.
See post 237 at http://help.infinitekind.com/discussions/investments/3771-third-par...
Try the Quote Loader and let us know how you get on. Post if you have any problems.
Hope this helps.

Not sure if the following error would have caused the quotes not being updated but error below
looks like a bug in MD for me.
On Linux, /opt directory is usually NOT writable by user.

I have seen this before on Windows. If you try and access a web site for which you do not have the certificate Java tries to load the certificate and runs into a permissions problem on the /opt/Moneydance/ folder, hence the Permission denied error. Try changing the permissions on this folder and run again.
I am not a unix user so can not advise on how to do this.
