Portfolio Report Anomaly
I am aware of the Investment reporting side of MD not being its strongest feature. I have had a go at MD 2019 and hope that someone can explain the following Portfolio Report as at 31.12.2018. I have set up an Dummy account which had a sale in the year. So the opening value of the shares (no cash) on 1 January 2018 was £19,297 (price £16.67) . Closing price on 31.12.18 was £14.91. During the year an assumed sale was made yielding a gain of £1,392 with income of £238. So in the Investment Performance Report the return percentage for the investment is -14.24% and the Portfolio Report return is -15.66%. I assume the difference is related to the Portfolio report not including the income. So far so good. However I am at a loss to explain the Overall investment return for the Dummy account of 2.06%. Does cash somehow get included? I have searched the discussion groups but do not seem to have found a discussion on this subject.
Also does MD use the share price or the value to calculate the 1 year%, 3 year% etc.
Any help gratefully received.
