Updating security prices
how do I get my mutual funds to update either automatically or by myself entering the prices
I am running 2019.1

I'm a fellow user.
If you want or need to enter prices manually I would suggest installing the Security Price Entry Extension, it is by far the easiest method to add prices by hand.
For automatic updates you have the choice of the Quotes and Exchange Rate extension or the User written Quote Loader. Whether either of these can get a priced depends totally on if the source used keeps prices for that fund, that is outside of moneydance's control.
the first two extension can be installed by using the Manage Extensions menu item, the Quote loader by following the instructions in:
