I've been away for last two weeks. On running update it seems that yahoo last update for bitcoin price was 15/1/2019. Yahoo has changed its ticker codes for bitcoin and other crypto assets.
Previously I had been using btcusd=x as my bitcoin investment security ticker code in MD now it needs to be BTC-USD in the security ticker code for bitcoin. Same with ETH. And I waited a day to see the updated ticker code take effect on the quoteloader.
I simultaneously upgraded to MD 2019 with removal and re-install to the fantastic mike bray quote loader so not sure if related/overlapped issue.
I couldn't find any comment of this in this forum or on wider net hence my post.

gerard, can you check to see the version you have of the "backend" (rhumba and hleofxquotes) can return a value for BTC-USD

    Menu -> Extensions -> Rhumba ...
    Then select tab "Test"
    Change line

    yahoo, IBM, AAPL, TSLA, EURUSD=X

    to
    yahoo, BTC-USD

    then click on 'Get Prices'
Does it return something like this?
    BTC-USD, 3473.1, USD, 20190130, 30938088

    Hi,
Yes Test>get prices returns exactly something like that. I checked my versions yesterday as I was upgrading the quoteloader system to 2019 (from 2017); 3005 for QL, 1051 for Rhumba and 240 for hleofxquotes.

If you look on Yahoo BTCUSD=X ticker last price is 15/1/2019 so they have stopped updating that ticker code. The only issue is someone using that BTCUSD=X ticker code in MD with the quote loader system will be updated with last price of 15/1/2019 and no more. It won't be obvious unless an MD user notices the last price date is not current or that their MD last price could potentially be some distance away from actual current market price.

I am not clear now on current issue. Is problem that

    • QL not getting price update for BTC-USD?
    • QL not getting price update for BTCUSD=X?

If it is the latter, then I am afraid nothing much can be done.

Apologies - I should have been clearer from the beginning - I don't think there is an issue with the quoteloader or MD. I was highlighting yahoo changing its 'live' ticker code for bitcoin and for me that change was not very obvious so I thought to mention it to others for information and also to correct me if I was wrong or not fully understanding. Those who continue to use BTCUSD=X will only get the last price as of 15 January from yahoo. I think it was just coincidence that it happened at same time as I was upgrading to 2019 but that's why I mentioned it.
    Thanks for your quick attention.

I am not support staff, just a user.

    Hi gerard

Take a look at the PDF
Moneydance Quote Loader System Handling Cryptocurrencies and Market Indices V2.0
    From https://bitbucket.org/mikerb/moneydance-2019/downloads/

Just created a new data set base currency USD and used the steps in the PDF to obtain Bitcoins.
    Tested 2019.1(1855), see screen shot.
The first release of this PDF was back in 30/8/2018 so the recommended approach when using Quote Loader has been around for some time.

    Hope this helps
