Unable to download Uk share prices
I am unable to download UK share prices. Any idea what I am doing wrong?
All my ticker symbols have .L at the end and I have got an API key. Finally I have tried Alphavantage and IEX Trading.
Please see the attached screen shot.
Any help would be appreciated!!

Hi knollhead
If the Quote and exchange rate updater does not work well for you try the free third-party Quote Loader. One of the sources in the Quote Loader is FT so is ideal for UK investors. The PDF explains how to find the correct ticker symbol.
For 2017 see posts 243/244 at http://help.infinitekind.com/discussions/investments/3771-third-par...
For 2019 see post 44/45 at http://help.infinitekind.com/discussions/investments/4039-quote-loa...
Download the PDF attached to these posts and have a read. To get an overview take a look at the YouTube video by using the link in the PDF.
Let us know how you get on or if you need help just post.
Hope this helps.

Thanks. I will give this a go this evening and report back. If it works then it is a shame that they don't make it part of the program going forward as this is a very weak part of Moneydance. I use syncing between two computers so wondered if there was any issues with this?

Hi knollhead
Moneydance activlly encourage user to develope extensions, like Quote Loader most of them are free.
No issues. I sync between two computers and a phone.
Have Fun

In each Quote tool whenever you specify a stock market source you do not specify a suffix in moneydance on the Ticker symbol.
Each of the tools appends whatever suffix it needs when it makes the request to the source. Different sources structure the suffixes differently, so these are source dependent not just exchange dependent.
IEX at this time only supports U.S. stocks.

Hi knollhead
Just checked your ticker symbols in your screen shot.
If my guesses on what your securities are is correct.
The ticker for
BT group is “BT.A” not “BT”
BP PLC is “BP.” Not “BP”
With these corrections Quote Loader returns prices for all your securities.
Hope this helps.

Cheers Derek. All working perfectly!! Thanks so much for your help :-)
Do you know if there is any way to download historical price data with Quote Loader?
Thanks again,
David :-)

I'm a fellow user.
Quote Loader only downloads the current price.
There are various ways and tools to load historic prices into Moneydance but most involve you downloading CSV files of the prices from Yahoo/your broker/other sources rather than being automated.
The Quotes and Exchange Rate Extension is the only automated method that I can think of at the moment but that involves using AlphaVantage or IEX

Hi knollhead
Glad you got Quote Loader is working for you.
As dwg states Quote Loader does not look back to provide history. You build a history by using Quote Loader.
As you have found nether AlphaVantage nor IEX meet your needs.
Have Fun
