Hi Roger.

Setting up security investments is a 4 step process.
1. Create an investment account under ACCOUNT – NEW
2. Create each of the securities to be held in the investment account under TOOLS – SECURITIES - “+”
3. Add the securities to the investment account. Highlight the investment account in the side bar, list on left. Click the SECURITY DETAIL tab and click ADD SECURITY.
4. Click the REGISTER tab and click NEW TRANSACTION to purchase a security.

For more detail see this set of articles https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/kb/investment-accounts

Hope this helps.

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/477682122019-10-29T11:14:24Z2019-10-29T11:14:25ZShares

Thanks Derek

I’ll try and figure it out. Most probably is the way I am entering the details.

Hi Roger.

Glad to help.

Just in case you haven’t come across them yet there are two methods within Moneydance for obtaining security prices automatically.

The extension “Quote and Exchange Rate Updater found under EXTENSIONS – MANAGE EXTENSIONS. Check you are running the latest build v1024. For exchange rates use the source European Central Bank. Alpha Vantage covers the US as well as some securities outside the US, but is very, very slow. It’s my understanding that the source IEX Trading no longer works.

If the Quote and exchange rate updater does not work well for you try the free third-party Quote Loader, the one I use. Both of the sources in the Quote Loader have good coverage of worldwide securities.

See post 205 at https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/discussions/investments/4039-quo...

Download the PDF attached to posts 205 and have a read.

To get an overview take a look at the YouTube video by using the link on page 1 of the PDF.

Let us know how you get on or if you need help just post.

Hope this helps.

derekkent23
