The new Quote Loader
TIK has improved the security on the use of unsigned extensions. This is in build 1899 which is still in preview mode. Once it is released for general use you will see a warning message on the summary screen if you are using unverified extensions. This included all of my extensions. I have worked with TIK to get my extensions verified which includes Quote Loader. These are now available on my repository in https://bitbucket.org/mikerb/moneydance-2019/downloads/.
To verify an extension I have had to make my source code available to TIK. The author of the back end of Quote Loader (hleofxquotes) was not prepared to do this and thus I have redesigned Quote Loader to be standalone. I would like to thank hleofxquotes for his work and help in making Quote Loader an extension of choice.
I have asked TIK to add Quote Loader to the list of available extensions. This is being considered.
DerekKent23 has written/updated a PDF on how to install and set up Quote Loader. This is accompanied by a couple of videos. These assume Quote Loader has been added to the list of available extensions. Before that list is updated please download the file securityquoteload.mxt from my repository (https://bitbucket.org/mikerb/moneydance-2019/downloads/) and add it using the MD Extensions/Manage Extensions/Add from File. The updated PDF will be available shortly.

Dear all,
I am trying to retrieve exchange rates for several currencies - Euro, US dollar and Turkish lira (base currency is Russian ruble). Euro and dollar work fine and show the rate for the today's trade date but Turkish lira shows June 30, 2016 (!) as the trade date and wrong exchange rate (well, maybe it was correct for 2016 but not today) - see a screenshot.
I tried all 3 possible sources (Yahoo, Yahoo HD and FT) and only Yahoo gives this ancient rate for lira, other 2 just generate errors. I checked Yahoo site, it provides a correct real-time exchange rate for lira to ruble.
Is there any way to get Turkish lira current exchange rate with Russian ruble as a base currency?

I am a long time user of Moneydance (Version 2021.1 (3069) and Quote Loader (3046) and run Quote Loader weekly to monitor the prices of securities of interest to me.
One security, AT&T listed on the NYSE, fails to appear in the Quote Loader window and accordingly, its security price will not update. By any chance, is this because AT&T (NYSE - T) shares the same ticker symbol as Telus (TSX - T, NYSE - TU) and if so, is there anyway to address this? Thanks for your help and advice.

I have set up your two securities in a test data set and they both appear in the Quote Loader window and there prices can be obtained.
See screen shot. Check your two Security Edit windows under TOOLS – SECURITY – subject Security – EDIT are set up the same as mine.

Thanks for responding to my inquiry so promptly. I believe there is a difference in my setup vs the test data that you set up. In my case, Telus is entered as Ticker T on the Toronto Stock Exchange because that is where I own the security. AT&T is also entered as Ticker T but on the NYSE for the same reason. So in my situation, I have two securities with the same Ticker T; one on the TSX and the other on the NYSE. See attached screen shots. Any thoughts? Thanks for your help. David

The simplest way to get round this issue is to change the Ticker for TELUS Corporation from T to T.TO see screen shot.

To prove it works you can click GET PRICES and see prices returned but if you don’t want to save them don’t tick the SELECT boxes or click SAVE SELECTED VALUES

As an aside, you can see there is another security which does not update the way I have set it up. This is a Toronto Dominion Preferred Share Series 22 (TD-PFL). See 2nd attachment. Any thoughts. Thanks for your help. David

Hi dstephure, you still have the exchange on T.TO, this effectively sets
the ticker to T.TO.TO, double click on the exchange and set it to null.

That easily explained. Take another look at my screen shot. As the exchange code is part of the Ticker T.TO you should not select the exchange under Exch Mod. Just set the Exch Mod for TELUS Corporation to blank and all should be well.
Now try GET PRICES.
As for Toronto-Dominion PFD Series 22 the ticker TD-PFL with a Exch Mod TSX worked when I ran the test. See screen shot. It’s possible, at the time your tested Yahoo was doing an update. Has it worked before? Does it work now?

Your last suggestion solved my problem in regard to the Telus/AT&T question. Thanks so much for your help on this.
Unfortunately, the Toronto Dominion PFD Series 22 (TD-PFL) has never updated in my setup and still does not. See screen shot. It would be nice if it updated like all of my other securities.

I not sure why you are having problems with Toronto-Dominion PFD Series 22 the ticker TD-PFL with a Exch Mod TSX
As you can see in my test data set it works for me.
I am wondering if another security in your list could be creating a problem.
Can you in Moneydance RESTORE FROM BACKUP the attached moneydance backup file and run Quote Loader and see what happens
In case we need to look deeper how many securities do you have listed.

I unzipped the file that you sent to me and ran Quote Loader 3046. FYI I am running Moneydance 2021.1 (3069). It updated the files correctly with your data file. See attached.
I reran Quote Loader 3046 with my data file. TD-PFL is the only security that does not update? See attached. I have taken a wider screen shot to illustrate the way that I have Quote Loader configured. FYI, I tried running it Manually with the same result.
I have about 75 securities in my data set that Quote Loader tries to update weekly.
Any thoughts? Thanks very much for trying to resolve this.

Mike Bray the Quote Loader developer has update Quote Loader for another user who reported that some of his 198 securities were not being returned. Build 3047 is awaiting signing by Infinite Kind (Moneydance). I think it is worth giving it a try. Its available on Mike’s site https://bitbucket.org/mikerb/moneydance-2019/downloads/
Download securityquoteload3047.mxt. Rename it to securityquoteload.mxt. In Moneydance go to Extensions/Manage Extensions and click on 'Add From File' (bottom left). Click on Yes to the warning, click on Install for the Add Extension. Restart Moneydance. Then try it out and let us know if this works.
If you still have a issue it would help diagnose what’s happening if you could send a copy of all your securities. This is simple to do as follows:
The following instruction creates a simple spread sheet which contains all your Security Names, Ticker symbols and Exch Mode, nothing else.
The instruction is based on using Excel, but other spread sheet applications should work as well but some of the instruction may be slightly different.
Exporting data to excel.
1. In Moneydance in the Side Bar click on the report “Portfolio”.
2. Click Edit, Reset, OK and then Copy to Clipboard.
Import into excel.
1. Open excel and in the top left-hand cell click paste.
2. Delete all columns except the columns containing Security Names and Symbols.
3. Delete all rows that do not contain Symbols, including the row containing the word “Ticker”.
4. You should now be left with a list of Security Names and their associated Ticker Symbols.
5. Now in a separate column next to each security adding the Exch Mode codes you have used.
6.Save file as a CSV file type and compress it to a ZIP file and post.
I will then create a test Data Set with all your securities and see what happens when I run Quote Loader.

Closed Moneydance and reopen. Run Quote Loader – GET PRICES and assuming there is still an issue close Moneydance and post the Moneydance errlog.txt file

Eureka .... Using FT instead of YahooHD worked! See attached. Is there any reason why a user should choose FT instead of YahooHD as a data source? How does one know which to use? Trial and Error?

Which source to use. Yes, mainly trial and error.
In a high percentage of cases both Yahoo and FT will work.
However there a significant number of securities that will only be supported one or the other, hence why Mike provided both sources.
Glad that FT worked in the case of Toronto-Dominion PFD Series 22 but still intrigued to understand why for you Yahoo did not work for that security when it did for me.
If you have the time would like to continue to peruse Yahoo.
Perhaps as outlined in my previous posts:
Try Quote Loader 3047
If it does not work, follow the outline process to post a errlog.txt file still using 3047.
Wait for response from us and if necessary, provide a CSV file of all your securities so we can get to the bottom of this.

The easiest way for me to determine the issue is having an error log
with the debug option set to DETAIL. I am working on an error log
analyser to help decypher errors, but it is a few weeks off.

To start, switching the data source to FP from YahooHD solved the problem using Quote Loader 3046. Updates now work correctly. See 1st screen shot.
As per your request, I am willing to try to help you understand why my setup using YahooHD does not update TD-PFL.TO. The 2nd screen shot was taken running Quote Loader 3047 and failed to update TD-PFL.TO. See 2nd screen shot.
I tried to follow your instructions to create an error log. See 3rd screen shot and 4th screen shot. If an error log was created successfully, I don't know where to find it on my MacBook Pro? Any suggestions?

I am not a Mac user but searching this site I found the following from support:
If you're using Mac OS X, it should be located at one of these locations within your Home folder:
~/Library/Containers/com.infinitekind.MoneydanceOSX/Data/Library/Application Support/Moneydance/errlog.txt or:
~/Library/Application Support/Moneydance/errlog.txt If you have any trouble finding your Home Library folder, open Finder, select Go -> Go to Folder -> from the menu bar, and copy and paste in:
~/Library This should pull up your local Library folder.
If you're using Windows, it should be located at:
C:/Users/(yourusername)/.moneydance/errlog.txt
If you're using Linux, it should be located at:
/home/(yourusername)/.moneydance/errlog.txt
If you still can’t find the errlog.txt file do this instead.
With Quote Loader 3047 installed click HELP – TURN DEBUG ON/OFF and set to DETAILED.
Closed Moneydance and reopen. Click HELP – CONSOLE WINDOW to open a log window then Run Quote Loader – GET PRICES. Then in the console window (which may be behind other windows) click SAVE to save the contents of the window to a file and then post that file.

Third-party Quote Loader Extension, Moneydance 2019 to 2022 ONLY.

Quote Loader is a third-party extension that has been reviewed and signed by Infinite Kind (Moneydance).
For Moneydance 2019 to 2020 latest Quote Loader build is 3047.
UPDATE
• Add NEO Exchange Toronto to Exch Mod Exchange selection list.
• Some users with a very large number of Securities have reported that not all Securities Prices are being obtained. Time out feature changed to rectify this.
• A under the bonnet change to alert the Extension Toolbox when Quote Loader is running.
As a signed extension Quote Loader can be found under EXTENSIONS – MANAGE EXTENSIONS.
Simply click EXTENSIONS – MANAGE EXTENSIONS – AVAILABLE tab, find Quote Loader and click install or update.
Once installed re-start Moneydance - installation complete.
For users of Quote Loader builds lower than 3021. REMOVE (uninstall) all Extensions under EXTENSIONS – MB EXTENSION INSTALLER, lastly removing (uninstalling) MB EXTENSION INSTALLER itself by using the REMOVE buttons. The background folder “.rhumba” is redundant, expert user can if they so wish delete the “.rhumba” folder with Moneydance closed. On installing the latest Quote Loader, a new replacement folder “.qlmeta” is created. MB Extension Installer is no longer required to install Quote Loader.

I found the error log download that you requested. See attached. Hope it is helpful. I assume I should TURNOFF Debug now? Do I keep Quote Loader 3047 or restore Quote Loader 3046?
