The new Quote Loader
TIK has improved the security on the use of unsigned extensions. This is in build 1899 which is still in preview mode. Once it is released for general use you will see a warning message on the summary screen if you are using unverified extensions. This included all of my extensions. I have worked with TIK to get my extensions verified which includes Quote Loader. These are now available on my repository in https://bitbucket.org/mikerb/moneydance-2019/downloads/.
To verify an extension I have had to make my source code available to TIK. The author of the back end of Quote Loader (hleofxquotes) was not prepared to do this and thus I have redesigned Quote Loader to be standalone. I would like to thank hleofxquotes for his work and help in making Quote Loader an extension of choice.
I have asked TIK to add Quote Loader to the list of available extensions. This is being considered.
DerekKent23 has written/updated a PDF on how to install and set up Quote Loader. This is accompanied by a couple of videos. These assume Quote Loader has been added to the list of available extensions. Before that list is updated please download the file securityquoteload.mxt from my repository (https://bitbucket.org/mikerb/moneydance-2019/downloads/) and add it using the MD Extensions/Manage Extensions/Add from File. The updated PDF will be available shortly.

Third-party Quote Loader Extension, Moneydance 2019 ONLY.

The latest build 3021 of Quote Loader is a third-party extension that has been reviewed and signed by Infinite Kind (Moneydance). As a signed extension it is now available under EXTENSIONS – MANAGE EXTENSIONS.
UPDATE from last build:
• Automatic Update. A RESET AUTO RUN button has been added to negate the need to restart Moneydance after certain changes are made to Automatic Quote Update settings.
• Name changes to buttons relating to the Export Data feature, plus further error trapping messages added to help users.
• Change Quote Loader from a three-element system to a single extension.
EXISTING USERS should REMOVE (uninstall) the following extensions: Rhumba, the old Quote Loader and MD Extensions Installer under EXTENSIONS – MANAGE EXTENSIONS – INSTALLED tab.
The background folder “.rhumba” is redundant, expert user can if they so wish delete the “.rhumba” folder with Moneydance closed. On installing the latest Quote Loader a new replacement folder “.qlmeta” is created.
• MB Extension Installer is no longer required to install Quote Loader. As a signed extension Quote Loader can be found under EXTENSIONS – MANAGE EXTENSIONS.
Simply click EXTENSIONS – MANAGE EXTENSIONS, find Quote Loader and click install.
Once installed re-start Moneydance - installation complete.
Quote Loader was developed and is supported by Mike Bray.
PDF’s and Video by Derek Kent.
The system provides an end to end solution, obtaining quotes from a choice of two sources and entering them into the relevant History window, all from a single window within Moneydance. The system can obtain Security Prices, Exchange Rates, Market Indices, Cryptocurrency Rates and prices for Cryptocurrency Investments. The system provides quotes from many stock exchanges, US, Canada, UK, Europe and Australia to name but a few. The process of obtaining quotes from the selected source is fast and error free.

Hmmm- I thought I installed quote loader a while back (weeks), but If I see it say v3021 in the extensions list, I assume I'm cool?

V3021 was released a week ago, if you installed before then it is likely you installed V3020.
V3021, hopefully to be soon replaced by V3023, has a completely new backend and uses a different installation method. This is to comply with the new security approach introduced in Moneydance 2019 build 1899

The current build of Quote Loader is 3021, the first build using the new system, a single extension.
The last build of Quote Loader used in the three element Quote Loader system was build 3016.
3017 to 3020 were never released, they were for development and testing.

@dantdavis, you are right, TIK released it over night (GMT).
Build 3023 has an extra psuedo currency of GBp. Moneydance stores security prices in Pounds Sterling whilst some stocks are quoted in Pence. They have currency of GBX or GBp. Quote Loader will convert these to Pounds Sterling. You will see these in the Trade Currency column.
Quote Loader also deals with South African Rand (ZAR) and cents (ZAX) in the same way.
To update Quote Loader:
1. Open Moneydance
2. Select Extensions/Manage Extensions from the menu
3. Find Quote Loader and remove it
4. Select Install against Quote Loader
5. RESTART MONEYDANCE!!!
Quote Loader should show a build number of 3023.

If you follow the process outlined

then one of the extensions you will uninstalled will be rhumba.
Then simply click EXTENSIONS – MANAGE EXTENSIONS – AVAILABLE tab, find Quote Loader and click install or update.
Once installed re-start Moneydance - installation complete.
If you had any other Mike Bray extensions you then want to reinstall as a signed extension, you should follow the process outlined by Mike at
https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/discussions/moneydance-developme...

Mike - not sure how often you happen to look here, but is there a problem with the bitbucket site in general? my AV is reporting two viruses when i visit the site, just visit, not download. i know the site is not yours but thought i'd ask.

I have downloaded all of the files in the downloads folder and run a virus scan against them (McAfee) I did not find any viruses.

I keep getting it each time i do to the download folder. so it's like a on that page NOT any particular file. So I'm obviously hesitant to download at this point in time. Sorry I can be more specific as the AV software is just reporting it only when load that page and the site just tries to install these two files. type is an HTML Exploit.

I have one windows computer running McAfee LiveSafe and another Norton 360 nether report a issue. I have tried Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge.
What AV are you running? What browser, perhaps try a different browser. What computer operating system. Can you paste the web address?
Were you hopping to download a file, if so which file?

I think it is a bitbucket/your AV issue. My content seems to be OK and I don't get any issues. My AV is McAfee.

I'm beginning to think the same thing as it's only on bitbucket and only in that one folder. I'm using ClamXAV on my Mac!

Derek - to answer your questions, i'm on a Mac, use ClamAV as my malware/AV and generally use Safari. I tried this morning with Chrome and well i had not issue reported by Clam when i visited Mike's download page. And obviously this is a moot point since i don't need to install quote loader now any other way but through MoneyDance Extension Manager.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.
I agree for Quote Loader Manage Extension is the way to go. However, Mike has other signed extension on his site which at some point you or others may want to use and they are not in Manage Extension. The fact that your AV does not have an issue when Chrome is used further suggest your AV gives a false positive with Safari. Not an AV expert.

Is there a "Using Quote Loader" thread or pdf anywhere? EDIT - found the main pdf file in this thread. Thanks.
I saw someone ask about mutual funds today, and I have a similar question about bonds/cds and their "implied value" (i.e. 100 vs what they are selling at).
I have a Microsoft 5.2% note - but the ticker just says 7304604. I'm not sure how to make this actually work, but it may or may not be simple.
Similar question about Money Market funds that tend to stay at 1.00 like VMFXX - I probably don't need those updated ;), but just wondering how to make things like that "work" vs. disabling them.

Hi @dantdavis, basically if you can find what you are interested in on
yahoo.com or ft.com then Quote Loader can load the price. Go to those
respective sites in your browser and try to find the security/fund you
are interested in by name and copy the returned Ticker.
Quote Loader takes the ticker provided in MD and looks up the price on
the selected source in the same way you do using a browser. If Yahoo or
FT have the price I can load it.

Mike/Derek - I get an error "Error loading current build numbers file" when I try to load the MB Extension Installer to uninstall the unsigned QL components. In the MB log, I see:
MB Extension Installer>INFO:20:27:26-AWT-EventQueue-0(CopyFile,loadModulesFile) Error downloading buildnumbers.csv
What should I do?

Don’t try to install “MB Extension Installer”.
Under EXTENSIONS – MANAGE EXTENSIONS – INSTALLED, if installed, uninstall (Remove) rhumba and Quote Loader then reinstall Quote Loader from under EXTENSIONS – MANAGE EXTENSIONS – AVAILABLE and close and reopen Moneydance.

Due to changes within MD I have had to retire the MB Installer, so as Derek has pointed out please remove Quote Loader and Rhumba from the list of installed extensions and then reinstall Quote Loader from the list of Available Extensions.

I was on QL v 3023 - when I clicked on Check for new updates/extensions and selected QL it instantly upgraded to v 3024 ...
So I don’t need to do anything else, right?
