The new Quote Loader
TIK has improved the security on the use of unsigned extensions. This is in build 1899 which is still in preview mode. Once it is released for general use you will see a warning message on the summary screen if you are using unverified extensions. This included all of my extensions. I have worked with TIK to get my extensions verified which includes Quote Loader. These are now available on my repository in https://bitbucket.org/mikerb/moneydance-2019/downloads/.
To verify an extension I have had to make my source code available to TIK. The author of the back end of Quote Loader (hleofxquotes) was not prepared to do this and thus I have redesigned Quote Loader to be standalone. I would like to thank hleofxquotes for his work and help in making Quote Loader an extension of choice.
I have asked TIK to add Quote Loader to the list of available extensions. This is being considered.
DerekKent23 has written/updated a PDF on how to install and set up Quote Loader. This is accompanied by a couple of videos. These assume Quote Loader has been added to the list of available extensions. Before that list is updated please download the file securityquoteload.mxt from my repository (https://bitbucket.org/mikerb/moneydance-2019/downloads/) and add it using the MD Extensions/Manage Extensions/Add from File. The updated PDF will be available shortly.

Where do I find Mike's 'Security History Loader' referenced above? I don't see it in the list of extensions. Is there a link to download it?

Often Securities using the same or similar ticker are quoted on a number of exchanges in different counties and hence in different currencies.
Yahoo tends to default to US exchanges, FT to the London Stock exchange. To get the result you are looking for some times you need to change the Exch Mod setting. For CHI in US set Exch Mod to NASDAQ GLO.

I did not see how " TO REMOVE THE RHUMBA EXTENSION." stated above. when I looked at the wiki link. A novice here so help appreciated. When Quoteloader stopped updating a couple days ago I checked the manager and checked for updates and did that hopeful to fix. I did not see about need to remove this. Did I break it?
I changed all the "source" to FT and get 55 out of 103 stocks updated now.

Don’t worry about the background folder “.rhumba” its redundant and was only used on Quote Loader builds 3021 and lower.
By looking at the Quote Loader window can you confirm you are running build 3048.
If you are running build 3048 then you cant do anymore but need to wait in the hope the developer can fix the source Yahoo with a new build. This may take some time.
If you want me to take a look at the securities that are not returning data with the source set to FT I may be able to help.
Dues to the large number of securities involved the easiest way to provide me with that data I need is to extract it from Moneydance as follows:
The following instruction creates a simple spread sheet which contains all your Security Names and Ticker symbols.
The instruction is based on using Excel, but other spread sheet applications should work as well but some of the instruction may be slightly different.
Exporting data to excel.
1. In Moneydance in the Side Bar click on the report “Portfolio”.
2. Click Edit, Reset, OK and then Copy to Clipboard.
Import into excel.
1. Open excel and in the top left-hand cell click paste.
2. Delete all columns except the columns containing SECURITY Names and TICKER Symbols.
3. Delete all rows that do not contain Ticker Symbols, including the row containing the word “Ticker”.
4. You should now be left with a list of Security Names and their associated Ticker Symbols.
5. Add a new column and for each security define the source YAHOO, YAHOO HD, FT or FT HD
6. If any securities have an Exch Mod selected other than blank add a new column to define them.
7. Save file as a CSV file type.
Post the resulting CSV file.

My Vanguard funds all work fine via FT but I can't get any crypto prices to load, do I need a different symbol for these of does FT just not have any crypto price data?

I too am running Quote Loader 3048 and Yahoo HD update worked OK in Friday 16th December 2022. Now like others I get "Cannot load" messages on all my securities.
I see that the developer Mike Bray is working on this but I don't understand his update dated today. The actual message is dated "Feb 01, 2020 @ 02:22 AM".
Can someone clearly state what is happening. I see over 60 people are watching this thread.

The problem is the result of Yahoo changing the way it present data. The Quote Loader developer is looking into the issue but it may take some time to produce a new build.
The best thing to do is change the source from Yahoo to FT. If you still get an error on some securities you may need to select a Exch Mod or in extreme cases use a different Ticker that FT will recognise. If you still have problem I may be able to help. Post the Ticker, full security name, last price and the currency you work in for any securities showing an error. A screen shot of the Quote Loader window after a run so I can see the securities in error will do.

Hello to derekkent. Thank you for your message (post 282). I followed your advice to change my source from Yahoo to FT and this seemed to work pretty well, it fixed about 100 problems. I still have three that are not loading properly, and would like to accept your generous offer of help. Following are three publicly-traded securities I own, where Moneydance was correctly importing price data from Yahoo, but I cannot figure out how to configure the Quote Loader to get the price data from FT:
Cara Therapeutics, Symbol: CARA, traded in USD on NASDAQ, recent price around $11 per share
Sprout Social, Symbol: SPT, traded in USD on NASDAQ, recent price around $55 per share
Global X Lithium & Battery Tech, Symbol: LIT, traded in USD on NASDAQ, recent price around $62 per share
For each of these, I have tried different options in the "EXCH MOD" field, but I have not found the right ones to retrieve the correct prices. Any help you can provide would be most welcome and appreciated!

Thanks for your help with changing the source to FT. It worked for majority of stocks and ETF but having issues with some ETF ( all of this are trading on TSX)

Thanks derek! I finally read your post more carefully, and realized that I needed to also change the exchange. I could not use NASDAQ GOL as it did not resolve my Fidelity mutual funds, but NASDAQ did! i am not receiving all 26 prices via FT.

I have only a few securities that I update with Quote Loader. 2 of them work with FT in place of Yahoo, but 3 others - all ETFs - do not. I cannot see how to use EXCH MOD as I can't type into the fields, let alone know what to type in. Can you help?

I am beginning to think FT does not support any Canadian EFT securities.
The best I can suggest until Mike can develop a new Quote Loader build is to use the Yahoo web page at https://uk.finance.yahoo.com/lookup
and edit the New Price and Trade Date manually after doing a Quote Loader GET PRICES. The manually edited data will be saved along with the retrieved data for other securities.

I've notices for some EFTs FT appears to append the currency with a leading colon to the exchange.

I should do my homework. Post #293 is really a duplicate of #282 so ignore 293 if you wish.
Second, switching to 'FT' as the quote provider works and all my ETF prices successfully downloaded.

I have a weird thing going on. In lieu of using quote loader since the code change from the source, I used security price entry (to easily load prices) and now when going back to MB's quote loader, I am getting a update date of 2188. Any idea how to change that?
