The new Quote Loader
TIK has improved the security on the use of unsigned extensions. This is in build 1899 which is still in preview mode. Once it is released for general use you will see a warning message on the summary screen if you are using unverified extensions. This included all of my extensions. I have worked with TIK to get my extensions verified which includes Quote Loader. These are now available on my repository in https://bitbucket.org/mikerb/moneydance-2019/downloads/.
To verify an extension I have had to make my source code available to TIK. The author of the back end of Quote Loader (hleofxquotes) was not prepared to do this and thus I have redesigned Quote Loader to be standalone. I would like to thank hleofxquotes for his work and help in making Quote Loader an extension of choice.
I have asked TIK to add Quote Loader to the list of available extensions. This is being considered.
DerekKent23 has written/updated a PDF on how to install and set up Quote Loader. This is accompanied by a couple of videos. These assume Quote Loader has been added to the list of available extensions. Before that list is updated please download the file securityquoteload.mxt from my repository (https://bitbucket.org/mikerb/moneydance-2019/downloads/) and add it using the MD Extensions/Manage Extensions/Add from File. The updated PDF will be available shortly.

Mike Bray has got back to me. He has fixed the historical data bug in 3057 and I have run some tests. A new build 3058 has been summited to Sean the Moneydance developer for signing and making available in due course under Extensions.

Quote Loader is a third-party extension that has been reviewed and signed by Infinite Kind (Moneydance).
For Moneydance 2019 to 2022 latest Quote Loader build is 3058
UPDATE • Fix bug regarding retrieving historical data that crept into build 3057.
As a signed extension Quote Loader can be found under EXTENSIONS – MANAGE EXTENSIONS.
Simply click EXTENSIONS – MANAGE EXTENSIONS – AVAILABLE tab, find Quote Loader and click install or update.
Once installed re-start Moneydance - installation complete.
Quote Loader was developed and is supported by Mike Bray.

The system provides an end to end solution, obtaining quotes from a choice of sources and entering them into the relevant Currency/Security History window, all from a single window within Moneydance. Hi, I have a stock DGCFX that is not being updated in MD even though Quote loader downloads a new price from FT OK. When I look at the 'history' graph I see the only time the price changes is when I enter a transaction. When I look at any other stock I see that the price changes every week when I run QL. I tried updating the latest QL with no change. Digging further I find that this stock is listed correctly with the latest value when I look at my Portfolio in the 'Graphs and Reports' section of MD, but is not updated in the 'Security Performance' graph in Graphs and Reports.
So it seems that different area's of MD use different stock valuation lists. Yet it is only this one stock. So this suggests that the issue is with MD not QL I am using MD 2022.5 (4091). Any suggestions on how to fix this.

One possibility if the same Security has been set up more than once under TOOLS – SECURITIES.
Take a look. If you see the same ticker used for more than one security even if the security name is different then this is the issue. Report back.

Derek, You are brilliant !!! - Thank you. That is exactly what I found looking at the Securities list under Tools. Any suggestion how to fix this - do I just delete the one that is not getting updated ? Or can I merge the two files - if so how.
Update.
I found another discussion thread that you answered some years ago and where you suggested changing the name of the 'bad' security to xx-bad and then going through the register changing all the xx-bad transactions to xx and then removing the xx-bad security. It worked fine - thank you again for all the fine support you give to MD users even if you are 'Not Support - Just another User'.

FWIW there is a merge function in the Toolbox extension that should also address this.

Any chance of having the quote loader auto run every time Moneydance is opened. I know it does it the first time, but would be nice if it updated each time the application is opened. Accounts download each time the app is open with the download in background option selected, but quotes are only refreshed one time a day. Thanks Love the extension.

Once Quote Loader has a price for date it will not update that price, it has not been designed to update intra day pricing, which is what you would seem to want.

First of all, thank you for "Quote loader" works beautifully.
I had a quick question, about month ago the exchange rate portion in Quote
loader stopped functioning.
All the quotes load correctly but there are 4 errors for the 4 exchange
rates I selected.

I am not sure if the issue you had on exchange rates now works for you or is it still a outstanding issue?
If its still a problem can you post the build of Quote Loader you are running, e.g. 3202
Also a screen shot of the full Quote Loader windows so we can see the errors in obtaining exchange rates.

I have recently been having trouble downloading prices for three UK ETFs
CES1
UB23
UC79
I use the FT prices for all my other lines. I tried the other prices in Quote Loader, but none work.
Can you help?

As well as the Ticker symbol you have provided can you also provide the full name of each security plus the last price you have.
I think I have identified your securities and got prices but I want to be sure.

OK I made a guess on your three securities.
One of then CES1 is not currently supported by FT. Very occasionally a security will be unsupported for a few days then come back again.
The other two returned prices during my tests. See first screen shot.
In the second screen shot I changed the Source for CES1 to Yahoo+TD (you can use Yahoo+HD if you want history) and typed CES1.L into the Alt Ticker field. As you can see a price was returned.
In screen shot three I change all sources to Yahoo+HD and added Alt Tickers to confirm Yahoo also supports the other two securities.
If these are the wrong securities please post the extra information I requested.

This morning all my quote loads failed. (Yahoo) Exchange rates from FT still worked.

Today Yahoo released a new web page format. This has completely broken Quote Loader. I will try and get it back but it is looking like it might not come back and if it does it will be a lot slower. I will keep this forum posted when I have news.

In the meantime change the Source to FT.
Any Securities that return an error with FT as the source then post your base currency, the Ticker, full Security Name and last price you have and its traded currency or just post a screen shot of the Quote Loader windows after you click GET PRICES.

Thanks for posting this thread about Yahoo no longer working. This weekend I upated to MD 2024 (Build 5117) and thought that was the problem at first... After reading this, I changed sources to FT. Everything works except one security. I own both GOOGL and GOOG securities. The GOOG is not updating. See below for pdf screenshot.
I have tried all the source settings, and get the same error.
Anything I can do to remedy it?

I don't think anyone here can do anything about this, but I wanted to share that FT seems to be missing quite a few Canadian ETFs and mutual funds. The search box on their page fails to find (for example) XEQT which is ishares core equity ETF, HXQ (Horizons NASDAQ 100), XEF, and as far as I can tell any/all TD mutual funds. Hope we're able to get yahoo source fixed at some point as it was working beautifully!

URL is like https://query1.finance.yahoo.com/v8/finance/chart/AAPL and returns JSON data about the stock price.
Seeing as how yahoo operates, I guess there is no guarantee this endpoint will persist, though.
(also, i just noticed the gist owner is also named dave. that's not me. it's just something i came across)

I've switched from Yahoo to FT. Stocks load for the last closing price, but mutual funds are a day behind. Any suggestions?

There will always be a delay with funds, excluding ETFs, given the way they have to work, but it will also be dependent on when FT picks up the prices. I do not see there is anything you or Moneydance can do here.

Unfortunately FT does noy support Crypto.
With any luck Mike should be able to get Yahoo working again, but it may take a few weeks.

I can load quotes with FT, but not FT HD. This means if I don't run it for a few days, I will be missing prices. Any ideas?
Also is there support for the Nasdaq Global Market (Exchange Code: XNAS)? I have a security "BOTZ" that won't load.

Please disregard the above post #359. I have found out that FT HD doesn't support history for stocks, only funds.
