The new Quote Loader
TIK has improved the security on the use of unsigned extensions. This is in build 1899 which is still in preview mode. Once it is released for general use you will see a warning message on the summary screen if you are using unverified extensions. This included all of my extensions. I have worked with TIK to get my extensions verified which includes Quote Loader. These are now available on my repository in https://bitbucket.org/mikerb/moneydance-2019/downloads/.
To verify an extension I have had to make my source code available to TIK. The author of the back end of Quote Loader (hleofxquotes) was not prepared to do this and thus I have redesigned Quote Loader to be standalone. I would like to thank hleofxquotes for his work and help in making Quote Loader an extension of choice.
I have asked TIK to add Quote Loader to the list of available extensions. This is being considered.
DerekKent23 has written/updated a PDF on how to install and set up Quote Loader. This is accompanied by a couple of videos. These assume Quote Loader has been added to the list of available extensions. Before that list is updated please download the file securityquoteload.mxt from my repository (https://bitbucket.org/mikerb/moneydance-2019/downloads/) and add it using the MD Extensions/Manage Extensions/Add from File. The updated PDF will be available shortly.

Note at time of post the message relating to Quote Loader build under EXTENSIONS – MANAGE EXTENSIONS is misleading. To install build 3034 click, REMOVE then INSTALL. After install the message is still somewhat misleading but at least Build 3034 is installed.
At some point hopefully the messages will be corrected.

There is an issue with build 3034, it is not remembering changes to the run time parameters at the top of the screen.
I have created a new build (3035) which is not available (yet) from the Available Extensions list. Please download the unverified version (securityquoteload.mxt) from my Downloads folder (https://bitbucket.org/mikerb/moneydance-2019/downloads/)

I'm having problems with Yahoo HD returning GBp as the currency and Quote loader appearing to sometimes interpret as GBX and other times as GBP. From time to time, I find my values are 100x lower than they should be and the only way I can fix is to change the source for the affected security. I generally prefer Yahoo HD for the amount of info returned but am gradually reverting back to FT/FT HD due to the GBp issue.
Likely a separate issue but I also just found the CSV export is missing volume data. e.g.
Ticker,Name,Price,Date,Volume
BCI,BMO Capital and Income Inv Trust,3.24,30/04/2021,com.moneydance.modules.features.securityquoteload.ExtraFields@6cbcca27

The CSV Volume issue Mike Bray is already aware, and I am sure is working on a fix.
Can you provide examples of the Security Ticker Symbols that you are having Pound/Pence issue with from Yahoo HD

Hi, some of the tickers I had GBp issues with yesterday were RMG and RMV via LSE exchange. However when testing this morning, the values are correct from Yahoo HD. I've had this on and off before and it does appear to be related to pulling security values at certain times over the weekend.
I'll keep an eye on this and report more promptly next time as I doubt you'll be able to reproduce the issue right now.

If it happens again, in Quote Loader under HELP – TURN DEBUG ON/OFF set to DETAILED and restart Moneydance and run Quote Loader again. If the issue occurs post your Moneydance text file errlog.txt as this may show us what Yahoo is doing to create the issue.

A number of users have experienced problems with Yahoo and especially Yahoo HD. Quote Loader gets its trade currency from the line of text under the security name. eg:
Royal Mail plc (RMG.L)
LSE - LSE Delayed price. Currency in GBp
Currency GBp is used.
Yahoo sometimes changes this at different times of the day. This will throw Quote Loader off and it might report incorrect prices.

Mike/Derek - I don't know if it's my installation or an issue, but the "next run date" on my QuoteLoader extension is stuck at 04/30/2021. No matter the number of times I reset it and save parameters, the next time it still says 04/30/2021. Weird part is that this system still runs the download of security prices regardless.
Just an annoying item to add to the list of small items to maybe fix? or is there a way for me to clean up the preferences so that it resets?

Hi Mark, if you are using build 3034 of Quote Loader there is a known
error. This is corrected in build 3036. Sean is in the process of
verifying this build so it should be available in the next few days,
however, there is an unverified version available in my Downloads folder

Quote Loader is a third-party extension that has been reviewed and signed by Infinite Kind (Moneydance).
For Moneydance 2019-2020-2021 latest Quote Loader build is 3036.
UPDATE • Fix recently introduce bug related to not remembering changes to the run time parameters, (fixed in, 3035 unsigned). • Fix recently introduce bug related to Volume values in CSV file created by Create Prices CSV.

Hi Mike, I have a development request...
I run quote loader manually and use it to eyeball price movements across my portfolio in addition to downloading latest prices; I often look through the collected prices, comparing with last prices to try to pick out any significant changes.
Would you consider adding a new column "% change", perhaps even colour coding green/grey/red for positive/zero/negative movement against last price?
I'm not suggesting replicating or replacing any portfolio reporting tools but feel it would be very handy for myself and perhaps useful to others having the % price change right there in the quote loader window after running Get prices/Exchange rates and before saving selected values...

It states “Once installed re-start Moneydance - installation complete.”
This is also covered in the PDF and the 3 videos.
Also, then you follow the update process under EXTENSION - MANAGE EXTENSIONS it tells you to restart Moneydance.
So I think it is mentioned.

Just downloaded 3038. Nice with one caveat.
The %chg field is left aligned, which causes the price and that field to be right up against each other, making both hard to read. I looked over all the alignments, and it begins left/left/left/right/right/right/LEFT/right/LEFT/right/right/...
The currency field is also shoved up against the trade date, but that one was never as confusing as having price/% chg right up against each other. But, now, seeing the issue, could you make both % chg and currency to be right aligned so they can be separated from other fields? (by changing the column width)
The first three left aligned items are perfectly fine; it's just the shifting back and forth that causes an issue.

Another comment, let's say I set a decimal width to four.
.7062 is the older number, .7062 is the new number, %change says 0.0014
If I change it to two decimal places (.71 and .71) %change says 0.54
If I change it to enough decimal places to encompass the entire value (.706190 and .706190) %chg says 0.00
I think that you must be comparing one of the values at full length vs. another at truncated length. I'd think it should be consistent (either compare both at full length or both at truncated length). I'd recommend the former.
Thanks for Quote Loader, I'd probably not be using Moneydance without it.

Help please!
I have been using Moneydance for about 18 months, [currently 2021(2006)], including Quote Loader 3021 to update my UK share & investment trust prices ~ without any problems whatsoever.
Today, whilst browsing updates I may have unintentionally clicked on Quote Loader Updates because the Quote Loader version is now 3038 and I see that this now shows % change in the day’s prices.
The new version successfully updates prices on all my securities with the single exception of JP Morgan China Growth & Income Trust ~ JCGI via LSE and FT ---------- yet version 3021 has been successfully updating the JCGI prices daily for several months
The above settings on Quote Loader version 3038 are identical to those on version 3021, and having tried unsuccessfully over several hours (including restarts), I am puzzled as to why this single security should be causing a price update problem.
Can you help me on this issue please?

The ticker symbol is JCGI and the last updated price was £6.70 on 9th June 2021 via Quote Loader 3021.
