I assume you mean the Investment Register and the Banking Register.

As this is an Investment Account the primary register is the Investment Register. The Banking Register is there for you to be able to enter bank type transactions that the Investment register is not capable of handling, it was added to allow for those Investment Accounts that have provision for cheque writing and other banking activities.

The balance given in the Bank Register is just a running total of banking type transactions nothing more, it does not reflect the cash balance of the account, in my view I think it would be better if it was not included and only a transaction register was shown with no balances.

You cannot link actions between the two, the bank register should be considered to just be a sub register showing only certain transactions. The program will handle any transactions in the Bank register as it needs to in order to keep the Investment register correct. If I recall correctly I think it may show Bank transaction as Xfr transactions when viewed in the Investment Register.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/482422772020-04-15T17:35:24Z2020-04-15T17:35:25ZHow do I use the "banking" window?

Thank you - your answer gives me the information I need.

I’ve loved the functionality, and independence of MD, but documentation was never its strength.

Bill Miller
