The documentation states that the bank register is supposed to mimic a chequing account attached to the investment account but the income from securities is not reflected in the bank register so it's not very useful that way.

Bob Btag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/484431972020-07-19T20:54:10Z2020-07-19T20:54:10ZInvestment Register and Investment Bank Register balances do not match.

Is anybody there?
Only the Investment register shows an accurate balance, it reflects those transactions which it does not know how to handle as Xfr transactions. The bank register is a sub-register and only shows transactions which it can handle, which eliminates all Investment type transactions, it is present so you can enter transactions types that the Investment register cannot process, i.e, split transactions, transfers in foreign currencies etc. The running balance is just of the transactions it can process, so is not a true representation of the actual balance, in my view it would be better if the Bank register did not show any balance at all in these accounts, but I expect it is just displaying the standard register.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/484431972020-07-21T03:27:23Z2020-07-21T03:27:23ZInvestment Register and Investment Bank Register balances do not match.

Thanks for the info. It is very confusing they way it is. I understood that the bank register was used to simulate an attached chequing account to an investment account. As such all transactions that affect the cash balance should be displayed. but I guess that's just they way i think lol. I was also confused because another user said it worked differently in MD2017 but I haven't tried to find that version to check it out.

Thanks for your response, I appreciate it. I'll just let it go!

Bob B
