How do I put my shareholdings into Moneydance? Only options as to type seem to be as BANK or INVESTMENT.
If I choose INVESTMENT it just shows cash value. Can't show number of shares and share price. Can't get into the portfolio summary table. Also how do I ensure automatic daily update of share value and overall portfolio position?
Is there a simple step by step set of actions to achieve shareholding representation and control?

Would like to take this opportunity to thank you for fairly recent help in resetting Moneydance which very much appreciated.
Regards

    Hi Glynn,

I would recommend you have a look at Chapter 7 of the User Guide, which has information on investment accounts. Specifically page 51, which details "securities".

To manually change the current price of an investment, select 'Securities Detail' of the Investment Account. You can find the button on the upper right of the investment screen. Select the investment in question from the drop-down list. Once selected, click the 'History' button. In the resulting form, fill in the 'Current Price' and click 'New'.

In the investment register go to the 5th column, top line and you can enter the number of shares. Also, if you enter the price and total cost it should calculate # of shares bought. Once you have # shares the value will show up.

You may also want to install the 'Quotes and Exchange rates' extension, which downloads security price quotes and exchange rates from Yahoo and Google. You can do this within Extensions --> Manage Extensions.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.
