Investment graph showing periods before start date
I have a couple of GBP investments and a couple of Euro investments that I track the daily change of in my portfolio. For the GBP investments the "history" starts from the date of my first investment . However, the Euro based investments flatline from mid-April 2014 to the commencement date of my investment when the daily figures kick in. Why do the GBP and Euro investments act differently? The strangest one is that the Siemens Energy shares didn't even exist prior to 28th September this year so why do they still go back to 2014?
The base currency I use is GBP.
Thanks in advance for your help

Hi Gary
This is a bug. I reported it to Sean the Moneydance developer on his slack site back in July 2020. I will remind him again it’s not yet fixed.
The reason the line starts in mid-April 2014 for your security in Euro’s is that the graph start date is based on the first entered Euro exchange rate not on when the security was purchased. Sean needs to fix this. You can test is by temporally entering an even earlier exchange rate.
There is no fix as such but you can left click mouse sweep, top left to bottom right, to expand the graph.
Hope this helps

Thanks Derek,
Hopefully it will get sorted soon. In the meantime I’ll go with your temporary fix. It’s just kind on annoying that the base currency work fine but the Euro ones give an issue.
Thanks for your help
Gary

Hi Gary,
Thanks for bringing this up! I've just fixed it for the next update. The cause of this was moneydance taking into account the additional history of the currency on which the security was based when determining the date range for the graph.
Thanks,
Sean

Hi garyjprovis
A new preview (beta) build of Moneydance 2021(2001) is available. On the Investment Security Detail page the graphs for non-base currency securities now start from the earliest price in its associated price History window.
This preview build requires a key for 2019 or 2020 so as not to go into the demo mode. You can't yet purchase a upgrade key for 2021.
Maybe worth waiting for 2021 to be released unless you can run it on another computer. Not seen any run for the hills bugs that actually corrupt the data set but!
Hope this helps.

Thanks Derek,
much appreciate you keeping me up to date. To be honest I have read this just as I have installed the new beta and have just been hit with the licence key request so just off to find the info....

Had to revert back to build 1929 as my old licence key didn't work :-( for the 2021 beta which is a real shame. My data set seems OK so not (currently) restoring a backup.
