CDN & US Investment Accounts
Hello :)
I have investment accounts with BMO (Canada) InvestorLine. The BMO accounts allow for trading in both CDN and US dollars. Up until today I've only been trading in CDN dollars, so recording everything in MoneyDance is been very straightforward.
Today I converted some CDN currency to US currency within the account, and then purchased a US stock. Now that my account contains both currencies, what is the best way of handling the transactions in MoneyDance. The MoneyDance accounts are all in Canadian Dollars.
I know I can't be the only person who has dual currency accounts - how have you been recording the transactions?
Thank you in advance.

Dave, Fellow C$ and US$ user here. You can track US$ stocks in the same account as your C$ stocks if that matches your BMO reporting or you can make separate accounts for US$ holdings. If you combine the 2 types and you have C$ as your reporting currency then your US holdings will show in C$ (both prices and cost/share). If you have separate accounts you can show your US holdings in US$.
Either way works in Moneydance just depends on how you want to see the data.
