Investment Performance and Exchange Rates - a bug or a feature?

I have a USD fund and display the investment performance in GBP.

The portfolio and net worth reports use the exchange rate for the given date.

For the start of the time interval in the investment performance report MD uses today's exchange rate rather than the rate at the start of the interval. Hence it gives different results to the portfolio and net worth reports.

I think it should use the exchange prevalent at the start of the interval.

    I'm a fellow user.

I would think you want to eliminate any effect of exchange rate movements from any investment reports as they could distort the returns. As such I think the basic calculations should be performed in the currency of the investment and any calculated returns only converted as at the date of the report or at the rate at the end of the period being reported on.
