Will we see any progress on downloading from Schwab in the near future?

Schwab discontinued providing information through the proxy server that Sean (MD) set up late last year. This occurred on October 1.

It is unlikely that Schwab will start this up again.

The only option going forward appears to be the MD+ service ($2/month) in the new 2022 version. However, at the moment that only works with Schwab bank, not yet with investment accounts. That should be forthcoming.

    Hope that helps.

When does MoneyDance expect that downloading from investment accounts at Schwab will work again.
And what are the instructions for doing so once one sign up for MD+?
Is any special set up required?

    Hi Christian,
At this time, Moneydance+ does not support investment. We are working with Plaid (the third-party aggregator that our Moneydance+ service uses) to enable this, but we can't speculate on when that will be released.

Unfortunately, Schwab OFX (Direct Connect) downloads are no longer available. Schwab has disconnected this service without a replacement. We are working to restore a connection through Moneydance+ which was recommended by Schwab as the only way forward due to security concerns on their side. Using Moneydance+ in MD2022 you can download banking transactions from Schwab accounts, but investment accounts are not yet accessible.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions or need more assistance.

    Hi Maddy,

Any more updates on this? When can we expect investment accounts to work?

    Thanks,

    Hi Christian,

We do not have an ETA for when Moneydance + will support investment accounts yet.
I have flagged this discussion and you will be notified as soon as there is an update on this topic. As you might understand this is a very requested feature so the development team is working really hard to find a solution within reasonable time.

    Hi Maddy,

I've been watching this thread because, like others, I can't download my Schwab Investment accounts. But in case this is helpful to Infinite Kind Support, it appears that Fidelity Investment accounts have the same problem, at least for me. I was waiting for a new month to verify that dividends didn't show up in the Moneydance register with Moneydance+, and they don't.

    Thanks,
    Scott

The enabling of Investment accounts in general will have to be worked out between Moneydance and Plaid. I suspect this is an additional service as Plaid seems to refer to various services separately on their web site and you (Moneydance) sign up for what services you want..

Is the attempt to use MD+ with investment accounts like Fidelity and Schwab the cause for the INVALID_INPUT, INVALID_ACCESS_TOKEN popup error messages? I did not have issue with Fidelity and OFX downloads, but something was making one or more of my Plaid communications miserable.

I continue to be successful at downloading transactions from Fidelity using the "old" online banking download functionality. I just now downloaded the two new transactions that occurred during the past week, the interest income on the uninvested cash and one dividend receipt.

I have not tried to use Moneydance+ for Fidelity Investments until the Schwab investment download is working.

    I'm a fellow user.

I personally can see no reason to shift away from using OFX from those Institutions that it works with.

    Thanks for sharing wrsober,

When I first signed up for Moneydance+, I couldn't get it to work until I deleted all OFX connections. Now that I have MD+, I'm not able to re-establish OFX for anything. Kind of between a rock and a hard place now. Like dwg said, wait until Infinite Kind gets it all working. The only benefit I'm getting from spending $2 a month is downloading Visa and my bank transactions. I have to do the rest manually, which can be a pain sometimes.

I'm an optimist, and have faith that the developers will get things going eventually.

@starbucker - which version of MD are you using? 4056 and 4058 had problems establishing OFX connections.

OFX connections are SUPPOSED to come first with priority over MD+.
If you cannot re-establish OFX for anything, there is a problem.

    Hi dtd,

I'm at 4060. Once you get rid of your OFX connections, the OFX dialog is not available anymore. "Set Up Online Banking" will only bring up the MD+ dialog box. I remember when Fidelity was still OFX, I could edit the OFX connection, but once removed then I only see MD+. I hope that makes sense.

    Thanks,
    Scott

I'm still on 3069, and testing 4062. If what you state is accurate, I consider that a BIG problem. (I may be testing, but I haven't gotten rid of "all" my OFX connections (probably never will))

Can other "knowledgeable users" verify this? I'd think this would be a big problem.

    Hi Scott,

To remove the MD+ link to an account you should select the Online->Setup Moneydance+ menu and make sure that none of your MD+ connections have that account selected in the right column. If there are any references, then the Online->Setup Online Banking menu for that account will take you to that MD+ window. If your account does not appear on the right side of that window then the OFX setup should be appearing with the Online->Setup Online Banking menu. If that's still not the case, would you be open to doing a screen sharing session so that I can figure out why?

    Thanks,
    Sean

    Hi Sean,

My apologies if I mislead anyone, once I disconnected a particular account in MD+, I was indeed able to re-establish an OFX connection for that account. But, only for one account.

I deleted some manually created entries for November (Fidelity Core account) and tried to download with OFX. While it found some old entries for 2020, there was still nothing for November 2021. I reset the sync date within the OFX menu, and then November entries finally came in.

This makes me think that maybe MD+ was actually working for Fidelity, but that there is some problem with the sync date?

I tried to test the theory with my Roth account (Fidelity). But, no matter what I tried, I couldn't get the OFX menu to show up, only the MD+. That brought me full circle to the "You can't run in hybrid mode" scenario.

Sean, I'm happy to setup some time to screen share or I can run through some test scripts if you want to write them up, emailing screenshots, etc.

    Thanks!
    Scott

    Hi Sean et al,

Let me know if I should use another discussion thread. This thread is basically "Can't download investment accounts from Schwab (or Fidelity) using MD+". My issue is "Can't return to OFX after MD+ is installed".

I've disassociated Fidelity from MD+ numerous times but I still can't re-establish OFX to Fidelity. To be clear, I can do it for one account, but I have several Fidelity accounts. The core account will use OFX, but if I try "Setup online banking" for the Roth or other IRA accounts, only the MD+ menu pops up. I removed Fidelity completely from MD+, I hit the refresh button within MD+ menu, restarted the software, etc.

I'm assuming that when you select the "Setup online banking" menu item, the code checks for a flag, to bring up either a MD+ or an OFX menu. There seems to be a bug when removing the MD+ association for a connection, it only clears the flag for one account and not all the accounts that use that connection. Whether or not that is true, it is what I seem to be experiencing.

Let me know how I can help. I'm happy to conference, screen share, or anything else you would find useful.

    Scott
