transferring shares
How do I transfer shares from one investment account to a different investment account - no money transferred. How does the share history transfer to the new account.

Hi Susan
This Tool by Stuart may be what you are looking for.
Make sure as part of the process you do a Moneydance backup in case something goes wrong.
With the Extension Tool Box installed open Toolbox. Minimum Moneydance version 2021.1 (build: 3056, ideally 3069+)
Click TOOLBOX options and select ADVANCED MODE – YES – DO BACKUP NOW.
Then select MENU – TRANSACTION TOOLS – MOVE/MERGE INVESTMENT TRANSACTIONS FROM ONE ACCOUNT TO ANOTHER – PROCESS and follow the prompts.
If it does not do what you want you can always to a FILE – (MONEYDANCE on Mac) RESTORE FROM BACKUP.
Hope this helps

Hi Susan
Just been reminded it only moves/merges the whole account into another, not just selective shares.

As Derek has said toolbox can move ALL shares from one account to another.
There is no way to just move selected shares from one account to another. As Moneydance is based on accounting to move shares from one account to another you have to move all transactions regarding those shares between accounts and there is no ready way of identifying all possible transaction that could be involved.
Hence if you want to move some selected shares you have to do a sell in the existing account of those shares, transfer the funds and do a buy in the new account.
