Sometimes no securities are shown, sometimes a strange mix of them (not the current securities in the account). MD 2022.4 (4087). Stepping to another account and then back will "reset" the view, but it shortly starts cycling again.

Mark Jtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/548038322022-06-27T12:44:23Z2022-06-27T12:44:23ZPortfolio View showing random securities

Do you have MD+ set up to auto download investments by any chance?

My hunch is that it's not to do with data syncing, because the underlying data all seem to be correct and present, but I believe the Portfolio View page is not correctly reading and rendering the data. My basis for saying this is that when the page refreshes and shows an incorrect set of data as detailed in my previous message, switching to a different investment account then immediately back to the one at fault almost always results in the correct information appearing again -- which suggests that it's to do with how that page is rendering and not a difference in the underlying transactional data.

Sean, I not that on the Securities Detail screen, you can get the wrong securities displayed when switching between accounts, or if there are non in the account...

Stuart Beesley (Mr Toolbox)tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/548038322022-10-05T11:47:36Z2022-10-05T11:47:37ZPortfolio View showing random securities

Just changed to Dropbox Connection but exactly the same problem. What happens is go to a investment account, the portfolio is displayed. About 10 to 15 seconds later (which coincides each time with "Finished writing sync data" in the bottom left) the portfolio detail vanishes and the pie chart looks like the person posted in the thread mentioned above.
Clicking on a different investment account, then back, shows the whole portfolio again for 10 to 15 seconds then the same thing happens.
Very frustrating as can't just look at a detailed portfolio without the info vanishing.
This is a long term issue that has been present for years, but given other people now posting about it then it would be great if we can work this one out and solve it.

christag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/548038322022-10-05T12:36:56Z2022-10-05T12:36:57ZPortfolio View showing random securities

Confirming that for me too, the erroneous refresh occurs at the same time as "Finished writing sync data" appears in the bottom left.

As requested, here's the Help | Console data, saved shortly after one of the refreshes.

I've been using Moneydance for several years, with a number of investment accounts, but personally I had never seen this problem before the last couple of weeks; now it happens all the time.

Interestingly you are using DB Connection and you have this Sync error repeating 59 times.. May, or may not, be relevant:

I would suggest you go to dropbox online, look into the (hidden) .moneydancesync folder, then into the sync folder with the looooon name.. and look for file '674868e0-8d62-4bda-ad79-501c9cfeaac9.txn'

Does this exist? How large? How old?

Assuming it's old, I would (with MD closed) make a copy of this file (somewhere else) and then delete it. Then restart MD. Make sure that error has gone..

Now, does the portfolio issue still occur? If so, go to help/console. Keep console open. With console open, go to the portfolio screen again. Wait for the issue. Then upload latest console file again to here..

FYI - I've previously suggested that sync .txn files that cause an error should be deleted by MD automatically, after x days, but I don't think that's been implemented yet.....

Stuart Beesley (Mr Toolbox)tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/548038322022-10-05T13:25:13Z2022-10-05T13:25:13ZPortfolio View showing random securities

After all the above, I would also suggest you rebuild/refresh your sync data... Toolbox extension can do this.... Advanced mode..'Force a refresh/PUSH of your local dataset to Sync'..... Always backup first...!

Stuart Beesley (Mr Toolbox)tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/548038322022-10-05T14:27:31Z2022-10-05T14:27:31ZPortfolio View showing random securities

Hi Stuart

Thank you for looking into this for me.

The 674...txn file does indeed exist, dated 7/9/2022. It's only 240 bytes in size.

As you suggested, I downloaded a copy of that file then (with MD closed) deleted it from Dropbox. After reopening MD, I opened Portfolio View for several investment accounts and waited for the "Finished writing sync data" message to occur. None of them refreshed with incorrect information; the portfolio view pages showed the correct information stably.

So deleting this file seems to have fixed the error. Well done you -- thanks very much for your help.

I see your additional suggestion to rebuild/sync the data using your Toolbox extension; that's not something I have ever done, so I will plan to do so soon.

Thanks again,
