Quote Loader and "Accounting for spin-offs"

Hello,
I have 2 “simple” questions and a more procedural one.
Quote loader has stopped downloading “GC=F” from Yahoo. Don’t know why?
Also it’s pulling down the wrong prices for BHP, WDS & S32, all of which have Trade Currency marked as AUD. Any ideas?
And can someone tell me how one should account for “spin offs” (not sure what they should be called). BHP has recently “spawned” WDS and GSK “spawned” HLN. I have no Cost price so they are not being accounted for properly in Money Dance Investment Reports. I just entered them as a Buy at zero cost. What should I have done?
Regards
Bob

How the transaction should be constructed In Moneydance really depends on how the transaction is structured in real life. Typically the funds come from the parent in some way but there are a variety of ways it can be done, with very different consequences for the parent. Once you have the funds the buy in the spun off company is performed at the spin off price.

    Hi Bob

Are you running Quote Loader build 3058?
    If not update under Extensions.
If yes post a screen shot of Your Quote loader window so I can see if I can see any setting issues.

For your example post the full security name, ticker, Exch Mod, Source and last correct price you have, your base currency and the currency the securities are traded in.

    Hope this helps

    Thank you Derek,

Update to build 3058 solved GC=F, but not discrepancy for BHP, S32, WDS
    with Trade Currency of AUD.

    Attached screenshots taken today.

    Regards

Sadly that doesn't really solve my problem. It tells me there are various
ways it can be done without telling me what they are.
    Thanks for replying though

There are several exchanges for BCH, S32 and WDS, selecting ASX from the Exch Mod list will give you an AUD price.

    Hi Bob

Your three problem securities are traded on a number of exchanges in different counties in local currencies. Without knowing which exchange FT is defaulting to an Australian exchange where the trade currency is AUD. By setting the Exch Mod to LSE London Stock Exchange FT then know that the exchange you want quotes retuned from. See Screen shot.

    Hope this helps.
