Confused about investment account - bank register
Just want to make sure I'm doing things correctly, as it isn't making sense to me. I've created a new test account to simplify it, but still unsure.
New TEST account - starting balance 10,000.00
In the Register I bought a security for $443.25. This shows a remaining cash balance in the Register for $9,556.75. But the Bank Register view is blank, yet the bottom right corner balance is correct.
In the Bank Register I add a transaction with a category of "Fee" for $1000. This creates an entry in the bank register with a balance of $9,000, and the bottom right corner has the correct $8556.75 balance. And it also creates a xfr in the Register for the same amount.
This is all simple enough with two transactions, but when you have a few hundred, the cash balances on the rows in the Bank Register are not even remotely corresponding to real world values and creates a ton of confusion for me.
The Register seems looks like what one would traditionally expect. Just wondering why Bank Register is there if it isn't accurately reflecting the 'bank' balance. Should I just ignore it since it seems you can even do incoming fund transfers from the "Register' tab?

Ignore the bank register (I find it useless).
Just use the Register screen.
Also, perhaps consider entering your fees on the same Buy txns (if the fee directly relates to the purchase for CGT purposes).
