Recording initial Holdings
Hi
I'm based in the UK and I'm switching to Moneydance from Microsoft Money.
I have created an investment account and used the Securities tool to create some of my investments (Mutual Funds).
I have added one mutual fund to the Investment Account.
I'm trying to add other Mutual Funds. In the Investment Account, I'm selecting Register, New Transaction. I've tried to use an action of Buy or BuyXfr. When I come to adding the security I can only choose the security that I have already recorded as my first holding. None of the other Securities that I have aded using the Securities Tool are available for me to select.
How do I select the other securities I have entered to record using the Securities Tool to record all the mutual funds in my Investment account?
Peter

After using Tools --> Securities to create the security, within the Investment account you have to go to the Securities Details screen and click on the Add Security button to add the security definition to the account before you can enter transactions using this security to the account.

Hi Peter
As dwg said you have to add the securities to the account before you can
enter your buys. One trick to look at for is that if you do not set the
initial balance on your investment account each buy will create a
negative cash balance. So set your Investment Account initial balance
to the value of all your funds. As you enter your buys the cash value
will be reduced and hopefully once you have added all of your funds your
cash balance is zero.

Hi
Many thanks for the quick response which has solved the problem.
I'm using BuyXfr rather than Buy as the Action so it's not affecting the cash balance.
