I have Bitcoin as a security with the symbol BTC-USD. It downloads correctly with the Quote Loader extension, but automatically downloads as a $90 stock (BTC) when I open Moneydance. Anyway workaround for this annoyance? Thsnks, DR

    Hi rogersdan

Can you explain further the issue you have. In a test data set the price of BTC-USD in Quote Loader is downloading correctly. In an investment Account I have .01 shares and under the Security tab the Current Value looks correct.
    See screen shot.

    Derek,
I agree - my probelm is not with Quote Loader which downloads the correct Bitcoin price from Yahoo (BTC-USD).  However, when I open Moneydance the stock prices are automatically uploaded and the BItcoin is mistakenly loaded as BTC which is a stock that trades around $90-$92.  It's not a bid deal as I can correct the mistake by running Quote Loader.  I was wondering why one extension would pull the incorrect price and another extension the correct price.

    Hi rogersdan

I think you are telling me in your last post by stating:

However, when I open Moneydance the stock prices are automatically uploaded and the Bitcoin is mistakenly loaded as BTC which is a stock that trades around $90-$92.

That as well as Quote Loader you have the extension Quote and Exchange Rates Updater installed and it’s that, that is updating the Bitcoin price with an incorrect value of around $90-$92.

I don’t use the extension Quote and Exchange Rates Updater so am not an expert on its workings. But running a test and looking at the CONSOLE WINDOW under HELP its clear the value being retrieved is not BTC-USA. See text file.

I would suggest you remove the extension Quote and Exchange Rates Updater under EXTENSIONS-MANAGE EXTENSIONS and just use Quote Loader.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks,  I'll give that a try - I don't need the  prices everytime I open Moneydance.

    Hi rogersdan

I agree with you, I don’t need Prices every time I open Moneydance either.

But just for the record Quote Loader parameters can be set to do just that if needed.

See page 11 of the Quote Loader V2 Extension Moneydance 2019 to 2023 V11.5 PDF attached to post 67 at

    Hope this helps.

Interesting - I'll look into it but for the moment using Quote Loader manually is adequate.
