Stock Price for 1 Stock
I have been using Moneydance for many years. I use the Quote Loader to update all my stock and mutual fund prices daily. One week ago I purchased shares of AMD and added to my portfolio and entered in Quote Loader to update the AMD price daily. All of my other stocks and mutual funds have updated each day except AMD. When I go into Quote Loader I can see it retrieved the current price, but that price is not updating in my Portfolio View. Any suggestions?

Hi Kenny
Can you confirm some basic information.
Your computer operating system?
Moneydance Version/build is the latest 2023.3(5064)?
Quote Loader build is the latest 3204?
Check that the AMD Ticker has not been used as the Ticker for more than once Security by clicking TOOLS – SECURITIES and ensuring no other Security has the Ticker AMD.
If you are sure AMD has only been used for Advanced Micro Devices, Inc then try the following to show if something does not look correct.
Open Quote Loader and make a note of the Last Price for any Ticker other than AMD and then Double click on that Ticker. In the Currency/Security History window that open check that the Current and Last Dated Price is the same. Close the Currency/Security History window and now do the same for AMD. Are the AMD price the same in all three places? Make a note of the price.
In the Investment Account click the Security Detail tab and using the drop down select AMD. Is the Price displayed correct? Now check the Portfolio view tab.
Post your finding.

When I go in to TOOLS-SECURITIES there are two securities for Advanced Micro Devices, one is updating and the other is not. When I try to delete one of them I get an error message that says “Cannot remove currency that is being used”.

Hi Kenny
As you have found Quote Loader will normally only update one of any duplicated securities.
There are exceptions see page 12 of PDF Quote Loader V2 Extension Moneydance 2019 to 2023 post 67 at

Assuming the exception described in the PDF does not apply use Toolbox to merge duplicate securities.
Make sure the Extension Toolbox is installed under Extensions - Manage Extensions.
Extensions - Toolbox – TOOLBOX Options – Update Mode – accept disclaimer – DO BACKUP NOW to create a Moneydance backup.
Then select MENU: Currency & Security tools – FIX: Merge ‘duplicate’ securities (and related investments txns ) into one master security record and tick this box and click PROCEED.
Read and follow the process prompts very carefully. Once you successfully complete the process when you check under TOOLS – SECURITIES there should be only one subject security and when you use Quote Loader both investment accounts are updated.
