Since I updated to the current release 5165 my reports will not print in landscape properly. The setting is set to landscape but will not keep the setting, always returns to blank. I have page setup set to landscape. What can I do to get it to print across the page properly. Setting in setup are: 1. for all.

    Hi,
Thank you for contacting Moneydance support.

After clicking on 'Generate', in the resulting window you should check that the 'Print in Landscape' option is selected, as you did in the window where your report settings are displayed. Finally you can choose Print to PDF to verify that your report is printed in landscape correctly.
Another option is to check your Printer's settings (just in case!)

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions or need more assistance.

I am having the same problem in build 5172. Your response does not address the reported problem - did you try to simulate it?

    > After clicking on 'Generate',
I think you mean 'Print'? There is no 'Generate'.

    > in the resulting window you should check that the 'Print in Landscape' option is selected, as you did in the window where your report settings are displayed.
There is no 'Print in Landscape' checkbox in the resulting print dialog. It only appears in the Settings screen. And as the OP said, that setting is *not* being stored or recalled.

    > you can choose Print to PDF to verify that your report is printed in landscape correctly.
Yes, if I save it as a PDF and then check it in Preview, it is in Portrait, not Landscape.

    > Another option is to check your Printer's settings (just in case!)
There is no Landscape option in the Mac printer dialog.

Please check into this problem... I think we are doing all the right things and we can no longer print in Landscape.

    Thanks.

Can you navigate to Moneydance/File->Page Set up->Landscape? Then, you should click 'OK' and restart Moneydance. You should ensure that 'Landscape' is selected in all the windows before sending it to 'print'.

Please keep us posted on your progress, Thank you!

Thanks Maddy. on the Mac version changing the File->Page setup-> to landscape worked. However the previous version of MD allowed for the print landscape to remain set for saved reports. It no longer does.

Also when in the print report dialog, when you select the PDF option and then open in Preview, it goes straight to the printer and not to Preview. Is there a way to correct this?

Thank you and have a nice day!

Maddy: Changing the File->Page setup-> to landscape worked for me too. Thanks for this, however, it is a step backward to have to change this manually for each report... if I can remember which orientation each report should have. Please address the loss of the saved checkbox as a new bug.

Ted: Instead of open in Preview, we need to use Save as PDF. I opened a ticket with IK about this a long time ago. The response has been that there is a limitation in Java which prevents them from using Open in Preview, and there is no ETA for when (if ever) the Java community will address it.

rsworden: Thanks of the updated on the Java issue. It’s not a show stopper, just inconvenient at times. However, like you, I do have to remember which way all my monthly reports need to be printed. The set and save for portrait and landscape in memorized reports is much needed.

This landscape issue is not a Java issue. It’s a bug in the latest version of MD

You are correct that the landscape issue is not Java.

The Java issue is related to the print dialog options for PDF on the Mac. When the option to open in Preview, it sends it to the printer instead. I have (hopefully) attached a pic of the problem area. This has been an issue for many years.

    Best Regards

FYI - this issue appears to have been fixed for the next alpha release (tbc)...
