I know that I can just sell shares from one account, transfer the cash, and buy the same shares for the selling price in the new account. However, is there an easier way of making the share transfers directly in Moneydance?

    No there isn't another way.

As Moneydance is accounting based you have to move the value of the shares as well and this is really the only way the software has to move that value.

When you do sell and buy the shares, use the cost basis as the sell price/buy price, that way you maintain the cost basis when moving to the new brokerage account.
