<p>You can think of the $50 cost as being per household, so no matter how many computers you have or how many different operating systems the cost is $50 total.</p>
<p>In Moneydance you don't actually share the data, doing so in a PC environment is problematic and the only effective solution is a client server/model which for home software usage is a very expensive solution.</p>
<p>Moneydance takes a different approach, each instance of Moneydance has its own copy of the data and updates are passed between systems using small transaction logs read to/written from a shared location, as you want to also use a mobile device then this location is a dropbox account.</p>
<p>Note that the mobile version is designed for on the go entry of data to bank and credit card accounts only.</p>
<p>I'd suggest downloading and trying out Moneydance in trial mode, it is fully operational with a 100 manually entered transaction limit and no obligation.</p>
