What surprises me is you are not getting duplicates on your iPhone, the duplicates on the desktops does not surprise me.

Just to clear up one thing what you were doing pre MD 2017 with dropbox was invisible to Moneydance, as far as moneydance was concerned the data file just happened to be located in a folder named dropbox, now a lot of things could go wrong but duplicates like this was not one of them, lost data was the most likely issue.

What you have now are independent copies of Moneydance working with their own copy of the data set but passing transaction details between the instances. Hence an auto-commit reminder on each machine will get executed once on each machine and the transactions exchanged, there is no linkage to know that these transactions were generated by reminders or are there any linkage between them to know they are duplicates, so you get duplicates.

Now as to solutions. When you first set up the syncing the entire data set gets copied, what I do not know is if in subsequent transaction updates exactly how much data comes through. To test this on one machine I would change a reminder to not auto-commit and see if that state is transferred between machines, I suspect it probably will, if it didn't you could indeed have the reminders on only one machine or set them on one to not auto-commit, but like I said I suspect they will transfer.

If the expected outcome occurs then the only solution I can think of is to set them to not auto-commit and when they come up on one machine select to record the transaction and on the other to skip the transaction.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/445846142018-01-25T07:48:43Z2018-01-25T07:48:43ZDuplicates one sync'd devices

I am not support staff, just a user.

Just to add my own experience. I sync using Dropbox Folder between two windows computers, one on 7 the other on 10. Both computers updated to the latest build as they came available. I only run Moneydance on the second computer, say one every 10 to 12 days. I have one Android phone which is synced every day. I have about six auto commits per month. I have never had any auto commit transactions duplicated. The only time I have a duplication problem if I have all three devices running Moneydance at the same time and enter a transaction. Needless to say, I don’t do that anymore.
This does not help fix the problem but adds to the pool of knowledge on the subject.

derekkent23
