You can share data between computers and also use the MD Mobile App to have certain features available via your mobile device(s).

You have to follow procedures outlined in the KB Articles to sync correctly.

https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/kb/syncing-and-sharing-data

You are not doing anything with the Dropbox folder, per se, aside from granting permission/pwds for the MD Apps authorization to write/read data. You can use one Dropbox Account for multiple API connections (as far as I know), but there is talk of limiting Free Dropbox Accounts to 3 Client (as far as I know) connections (i.e. the ACTUAL Dropbox Application on the Computer/Device).

Can I change the Sync Type if needed?

If you mean Dropbox Folder, to Dropbox Connection, or vice versa, it could get complicated, I would choose the type that you want to use when setting up for the first time

Regards,

Yes, you can sync between computers as well as mobile devices see
https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/kb/syncing-and-sharing-data

If you are using the free Dropbox account watch out for the new device limit see https://help.dropbox.com/account/computer-limit
when using Dropbox Folder
As far as I can tell Dropbox Connection as it user a Dropbox API, does not count as a new device. However, the device is counted if it has an official Dropbox desktop client or mobile applications.

To sync using a different sync method you need to start a new sync.

“With "Dropbox Connection" Moneydance uses the Dropbox API to talk to the Dropbox service directly. So, you don't need to have Dropbox client actually installed on your computer, but you do need to be online when Moneydance is running in order for changes to be synced. With "Drobox Folder" Moneydance will just read and write files to your Dropbox folder on your computer, which means that you need to have Dropbox client installed and running, but you don't need to be online in order for Moneydance to read and write the changes.” Mobile devices use the Dropbox API but can sync with computers using Dropbox Folder.

In your Dropbox account online click files.
Hover over the “.moneydancesync” folder and click SHARE.
You are on your way.

Hope this helps

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/471763472019-04-14T16:23:19Z2019-04-14T16:23:19ZMoneyDance Sync

From: sprimost

I am not support staff, just a user

[just to retain a hiccup that I found: my iPad was not syncing with my computer (LINUX) after upgrade on LINUX system to 2019 from 2017.10]

When you upgrade from 2017 to 2019, you will need to disable the sync on
the iPad (other devices?) and then re-enable. It appears that the sync
will not continue to work across the upgrade on your main computer.

Hope this will help.

sprimost
