New Android 9 phone
Initial sync time = 2 minutes 40 seconds, guess depends on internet speed and data set size, I don’t have any attachments.
After initial sync all value on account list screen were £0.00 but now a new message appears indicating syncing is still in progress. Message lasted about 40 seconds. After the message closed there was no change. However, tests showed closing and opening the app at this point, including background instance fixed the issue, waiting (further 10 minutes) did not.
My Layout improvement suggestions incorporated.

Hi Richard.

Asked Sean the Moneydance software developer what is the earliest version of Android that Android mobile 2.0 beta will work on. This is his answer

“at the moment it will be 7.1.1 (Nougat), but that could change. I can't see it going down though”

Hope this helps.

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/474889502019-08-21T21:25:50Z2019-08-21T21:25:50ZMoneydance Android beta bugs

Thanks for the info Derek.

Hopefully when the new version is released the old version will remain available for those of us with slightly older phones ...

Hi Richard.

I also asked Sean the Moneydance software developer if the existing Android mobile build would still be available. This is his answer

“I believe that 1.15 should be available for people with older devices after 2.0 is released.”

Under preferences “Separate Tax Date for Transactions” is unticked.
Yes, on my computer when a register is set to two-line mode, I see transaction entered on the phone have a Tax Date. As you say 00/00/0000 , in a very small number of cases this turns into a real date all be it an erroneous date. e.g. 27/10/2000 the actual transaction date was 25/10/2019.
I can delete these entries provided “Separate Tax Date for Transactions” is unticked.

Reported to Sean.

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/474889502019-11-11T17:18:18Z2019-11-11T17:18:18ZMoneydance Android beta bugs

I'm running beta 2.0, 25 Aug update, on an Android phone running Pie.

Three observations...

1) I'm getting the 00/00/00 date appearing in the main register for items entered via the app.

2) Also, when an account is viewed, some transactions have one or more of the amount digits missing from display, eg an amount might display as 100.00 or 100.0 or occasionally 100.

There seems no logic to which are wrong, i.e. it does not appear to depend on the number of digits or the amount of text in other fields. However if the phone is rotated from portrait to landscape, all the digits appear, and if the phone is turned back to portrait, different transactions have digits missing.

3) Finally, if I happen to rotate the phone as the app loads and syncs, I get an error message at the bottom of the screen where the sync status is displayed:

"Sync Error: Attempt to invoke virtual method 'com.dropbox.core.v2.files.DbxUserFilesRequests com.dropbox.core.V2.DbxClientV2.files()' on a null objectreference"

but as far as I can see everything does load ok, though I always close and reopen the app rather than risk adding transactions so I don't know if it works properly after this message appears.

Otherwise, all good, and I like having the full history available rather than just one year, even at a cost of a longer syncing time.

RobStag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/474889502020-06-20T17:52:50Z2020-06-20T17:52:50ZMoneydance Android beta bugs

I am not support staff, just a user.

A heads up.
Sean has released a new Android mobile beta build. Moneydance 2020(build 68).
This included some improvements.

Have Fun, Stay Safe.

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/474889502020-06-20T20:45:17Z2020-06-20T20:45:17ZMoneydance Android beta bugs

Thanks for the heads up Derek.

I had noticed a difference, the fonts look clearer.

I see the issue I had with a sync error if I happened to turn the phone from portrait to landscape is resolved.

I've not had chance to see if entering a transaction in the app results in a 00/00/0000 date entry in the tax date yet as I'm not near the laptop.

Unfortunately, the issue I reported in point 2 in my 11 November 2019 post is still present. Final digits from the transaction amount or from the running balance are missing on some transations. Rotating portrait to landacape changes which have missing digits, then swapping back results in different ones to the original having missing digits. All very random, it seems.

RobStag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/474889502020-06-20T21:27:29Z2020-06-20T21:27:29ZMoneydance Android beta bugs

I am not support staff, just a user.
Hi RobS

I can confirm both issues.
1. Withing an account the running total of the account next to each transaction sometimes is truncated. Change from portrait to landscape and the value is OK. Switch back to Portrait and again the values are still correct. Leaving the account and re-entering it and the issue returns.
2. Enter a transaction on the app and on the computer the transaction has a tax date filled in of 00/00/0000

I have sent a direct message to Sean alerting him to the issues plus a link to your post.

Hi Robs

Android build 70 does not seem to have fixed either issue. Reported to Sean.

Have Fun, Stay Safe.

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/474889502020-06-21T08:28:40Z2020-06-21T08:28:40ZMoneydance Android beta bugs

Hi Derek and Sean,

Yep, the missing numbers issue is actually a bit worse. Rather than truncating the last one or two digits, it's now missing digits from the "other end", so a figure of 123.45 is showing as just 5.

It's not consistent though. Some four figure amounts such as 1000.00 show in full but a shorter one, such as 201.27 is just displaying 7.

Kind regards,

Decided I needed some excitement in my life so I signed up for the Android Beta. After installing, I got the initial sync message that "This may take a while". Well, it's been over an hour. It does seem to be moving a little, but is this normal? I do have a large file with several accounts, going back to 2013. I guess I'm too impatient.

Just another user here who is happy to use and test the beta version.

Stikes me there is something amiss here.

I have multiple accounts, some going back to the mid 1990s and I've never had to wait more than, say five minutes* for everything to sync, even first time using the Beta, which obviously takes longer because it does sync everything (excluding investment accounts) rather than just the last 365 days.

Might be worth uninstalling and reinstalling the app, or better wait to see if Derek, a knowledgeable user, or Sean, the developer have better suggestions.

RobS

Going from memory, as I've had the Beta version for ages. Might have been longer, but certainly measured in minutes tather than hours.

Hi Dan

My data set file size is 22.7MB as an indication of how much data there is to sync. I am on a slow internet connection. 3.4MB download. It takes my Android 10 phone about two and a half minutes for the initial sync ,then about 3 seconds after that.
i agree with Rob, worth trying again.

Have Fun, Stay Safe.

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/474889502020-06-21T15:07:57Z2020-06-21T15:07:57ZMoneydance Android beta bugs

Thanks Derek.

Is the file size the file mdata-v1 in the dropbox synch directory? Mine is only 342KB. However, my V3 folder where the attachments are is 268MB. Since attachments aren't in the mobile app(AFAIK), I wouldn't think that would matter.
I reloaded the beta app and the initial sync ran for about 7 minutes. Now it is syncing updates and has been running for 20 minutes.
I will let it run and see if it ever finishes. My guess is my sync folder is messed up.

(My internet is 4MB UP/ 25MB Down)

Dan P
