If you are using a mobile device then Dropbox is your only choice as Moneydance uses an API to sync the data. If you are just using desktop/notebook devices the you can use other sharing services by using the Shared folder syncing option.

The 3 device limit is meaningless to Moneydance however. The device connections are used when you install the Dropbox Client software on the system. Moneydance does not require this however.

If you select to use Dropbox Folder then you you must have the client software installed and you will use one device. If on the other hand you choose to use Dropbox Connection then there is no need to install the client and thus no device connection will be used. Moneydance will instead use the Dropbox API which does not consume any device connections.

The Moneydance software on the mobile never uses the Dropbox client, it always used the API so hence has no need for the client software.

Thus it is possible to use Moneydance syncing without use any of the Dropbox connection limit.

dwg
