The mini had a previous version of Moneydance from 4 or 5 years ago. after placing the file on the mini and updating Moneydance the balances are correct, on the mini and iPhone & iPad. then after a short while, there were duplicates synced on to the file. I tried several ways the clean this up, but nothing worked.

How can I cleanup the Moneydance sync info on Dropbox and what other bits on ht file that need to be corrected.

Thanks

jvlorenzentag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/488340572020-11-16T23:34:08Z2020-11-16T23:34:08ZHow to "clean" up sync information

NOTE: I am not from support, I am just a fellow user. I did this myself recently. Follow these instructions at your own risk etc.... This assumes you were using Dropbox Folders Sync method.

Do you have a good backup? It's the SOMETHING.moneydance file(dataset) that's important, along with config.dict

E.g. mine are:
/Users/stu/Documents/MoneyDance/Beesley Finances MoneyDance.moneydance /Users/stu/Library/Containers/com.infinitekind.MoneydanceOSX/Data/Library/Application Support/Moneydance/config.dict

Assuming yes, then I think the procedure is as follows.

TURN OFF sync on all moneydance instances and iOS devices. File>Syncing>Don't Sync

Find your dropbox folders on your Mac. It's a hidden folder called .moneydancesync
Delete this whole folder from dropbox
Make sure dropbox sync's to the cloud. Check all other devices that this folder is now gone.

Restore your xxx.moneydance dataset to the new computer, along with config.dict (not critical, but useful). Do the version upgrade and confirm you have a good dataset.
Open MD
You might need to select Open Other and select your xxx.moneydance dataset.
Check your data is good.
menu>file>syncing turn sync back on.
Check the dropbox folder gets populated and synchronises
Go to iOS, turn on sync in the MD app.

Good luck!

Stuart Beesley (Mr Toolbox)tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/488340572020-11-17T04:57:16Z2020-11-17T04:57:16ZHow to "clean" up sync information

Stuart, thank you very much. This seems to has resolved the issue. Is was seeing multiple files to sync on my iPad, iPhone. What ever I tried did not work.I would have a Moneydance file that was correct, but that file did not appear when syncing my iPad, iPhone. Cleaning everything off Dropbox did not show any files to sync, but the syncing was correct. I did not try to sync my iPad without selecting a file.

I didn’t find the config.dict, but things seem to working now.

Thank goodness to Time Machine, my latest backup was just before my machine failed.
