Hi RobS

I have two Android phones. My old phone runs Android 6.0.1 with the Moneydance app the updated version of 1.15 dated 21 May. I see the same truncated transaction values as you are seeing. On my Android 11 phone running Moneydance 2021 build 76 this is not an issue and the app is working correctly.
I have reported the issue to Sean the Moneydance developer on his Slack site so hopefully it will get fixed.

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/492332072021-06-05T20:08:20Z2021-06-05T20:08:20ZLatest app update causes display issues

Derek,

Thanks for the feedback.

I omitted to mention (though it might have been obvious) that I too am running the beta version, and the issue appeared once my app updated to v2021.1 This appears to be the latest android version I can access, as per the Google Play Store.

Thanks for passing the details to Sean. Much appreciated. I recall this issue happened once before after an update and was resolved quite quickly.

Regards,

Hi RobS

This is complicated. It assumes you were running the beta for some time without any problems, until the last update. If so, then if you want you can act on the following.
The beta version was released back in 2019, the last update being build 76. But Sean recently decided to release the beta version as the released version thus replacing version 1.15. So, for a few days the beta and released version were the same. However, for a number of users the update to the former beta version created major problem, the phone stopped syncing. Faced with this Sean released an updated version of 1.15 dated 21 May as a new beta version. You phone must have auto updated and this is the version you are now running. If you want to get back to build 76 you need to uninstall the app. In play store find the Moneydance app and toward the bottom click on Leave the beta testing. It can take some time to leave beta testing. Close Play store and wait say half an hour. When you try to install Moneydance again it should not say Beta. This should then install 2021 build 76 updated 22 May. The transaction values should not be truncated.

Hope this helps.

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/492332072021-06-05T21:42:12Z2021-06-05T21:42:12ZLatest app update causes display issues

Derek,

Thanks again for your detailed help. You are right to assume I've been using the beta version for quite some time with no problems at all, it was this morning I noticed a significant change (the icon was different for a start, as well as the look and feel).

I shall try your suggestion and hopefully be back to normal.

I do miss having all the data in the app though rather than just the last 12 months; it was handy to be able to search for things without having to fire up the main program on the laptop, but it should speed up syncing, I guess, so not all bad.

Regards,

Rob

RobStag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/492332072021-06-05T21:47:52Z2021-06-05T21:47:52ZLatest app update causes display issues

I am not support staff, just a user.
Hi Rob

If as I suggest you go back to 2021 build 76 then the 12 month limit is remove and you get it all again,

That's worked just fine, so I'll close this discussion - one thing less for Sean to worry about :)

Hi Rob

I turned off play store auto update so am still running 2021 build 76 on my Android 11 without issues. As my Android 6.0.1 has never been able run 2021 build 76 its now running 2021.1 with the transaction truncation issues. Waiting for Sean to get new builds ready and through the play store 3 to 5 day release process.

A few hours ago we submitted an update to the Google Play store which should resolve the layout problem as well as a few other issues in the recent release.
The new version is version 2021.2 (92) and we hope that it will be approved and released soon. It usually takes a couple of days.

I hope this information is helpful.

Hi roneydxb

When I asked Sean the Moneydance developer this question he replied.

“92 is basically taking most of the UI improvements from 2021 but still using the old syncing system from before then. This should be the release that, once approved, will be a stable base. After that I'll be working on the longer term android app as a series of betas until I get it bulletproof before trying it as a public release again”

At time of post Play Store had not yet released 2021.2(92)

Hope this helps

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/492332072021-06-15T08:30:41Z2021-06-15T08:30:41ZLatest app update causes display issues

Hi Derek, Maddy:
Hi roneydxb

2021.2 is now available as a release version on Play Store.
Updated my Android 6.0.1 phone and the truncated values are fixed for me.
But I want be updating my Android 11 as I would lose feature I have with beta 2021(76), namely.
Main screen
1. Bank Account total.
2. Credit Card total.

Within an account
1. Search box.
2. For entering transactions an improved calendar.
3. All transactions in an account rather than 365 days worth.

Settings
1. App version and build number. Gets confusing as to what is installed without this.
2. Sync Passphrase.

I know for many users 2021(76) created problems, hence 2021.2 but for me it worked without issues. Sean has said he will be working on new beta releases to add these features back but without the bugs some users experienced.

Hope this helps

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/492332072021-06-17T10:39:29Z2021-06-17T22:16:43ZLatest app update causes display issues

I'm getting confused now...

Do I need to go back to the beta version to pick up these changes which Derek highlights above?

I was on beta until about a week or so ago, when the changes to the beta version caused some issues. Swapped to regular version, as suggested by Derek and all was good until the truncation issues then appeared, and only 365 days of transactions are shown.

I've been looking at the Play Store, but I don't see a new version as a regular user. Happy to swap back to beta if that at least removes the truncation issue, even of the 365 limit still applies.

Thanks for any advice.

RobS

Edit: Cancel that. 2021.2 has now appeared for me as a regular user and it does indeed fix the truncation issue.

Hi roneydxb

Correction to my last post, edited so 2021.1(76) now reads 2021(76)

There is currently no way back to 2021(76) if you have already moved on.

So as not to lose the features I have listed in my last post I have not updated to 2021.2(92) on my Android 11 phone. I have updated my Android 6.0.1 to the new released 2021.2(92) which fixed the truncated transaction values I was experiencing on this phone running 2021.1, but it is now missing the features listed for 2021(76).

Sean has said he will reintroduce these features on the Beta tester version moving forward from 2021.2(92), but no time line given.

So bottom line:
If you have updated from 2021(76) you can’t go back.
On Play Store at time of post both Released and Beta tester versions/builds are the same 2021.2(96).
Expect Beta tester to be updated at some point to get back lost features.

Hope this helps.

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/492332072021-06-17T21:36:10Z2021-06-17T21:36:10ZLatest app update causes display issues

???

david.shaw2000tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/492332072021-06-18T07:16:22Z2021-06-18T07:16:22ZLatest app update causes display issues

I am not support staff, just a user.
