Someone may jump in with more info, but that's my understanding.

dtdtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/568356422022-11-21T02:19:36Z2022-11-21T02:19:36ZSync with iCloud with Wife's Laptop

The same Apple ID is a requirement for Moneydance syncing.

Some users have attempted to get syncing working using sharing on iCloud but it has not been successful.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/568356422022-11-21T03:32:32Z2022-11-21T03:32:32ZSync with iCloud with Wife's Laptop

Well that is a bummer. What I am hearing is that MoneyDance doesn't have the same sharing capabilities with iCloud as it Dropbox does.

Anyone have any idea where the data file is stored on iCloud? I can't see it in Finder but maybe it is set as a hidden file?

jmboonetag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/568356422022-11-21T03:37:36Z2022-11-21T03:37:36ZSync with iCloud with Wife's Laptop

Yes, Dropbox works better than iCloud with MD. I think the "same apple id" is an Apple restriction (sandbox, etc), not an MD one.

I've used the Dropbox link via a free account (two actually, as Dropbox doesn't have the icloud restriction) for over two years now. And we both do use Macbook Pros, but see no reason to change.

dtdtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/568356422022-11-21T06:08:49Z2022-11-21T06:08:49ZSync with iCloud with Wife's Laptop

On a machine with MD and iCloud sync running, load and run toolbox extension. Top right. Open MD folder. Open sync folder. Then you will see the hidden iCloud sync location.

Stuart Beesley (Mr Toolbox)tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/568356422022-11-21T18:52:50Z2022-11-21T18:52:50ZSync with iCloud with Wife's Laptop

Cool, I installed the extension and did what you said. Here is what is says. I

iCloud Drive > Monedance Sync

That still doesn't help me unless I tried to share this folder with my wife? Anyone think that would work? I suspect there is an RDBMS under the hood and the concern is transactional data synchronization?

jmboonetag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/568356422022-11-21T19:25:47Z2022-11-21T19:25:47ZSync with iCloud with Wife's Laptop

I've done it and shared the folder with another account, and then used Shared Folder on the other desktop to connect to it. It seemed to work, BUT, others have not had success. Use at your own peril!!

Stuart Beesley (Mr Toolbox)
