Syncing with iCloud
I've read the Knowledge Base on setting up syncing with iCloud but it seems to assume a new user. I've been using MD for years and successfully syncing via Dropbox. However, since that's the only thing I use Dropbox for and everything else in in iCloud, I'd like to switch but I'm afraid I need a step by step, detailed procedure for changing from Dropbox syncing to iCloud without corrupting or losing the years of data.
Thanks,
Don

You will have to stop syncing with Dropbox and basically go back to having a single standalone system. You then rebuild syncing from scratch using iCloud.
There is no way of just "transferring" to iCloud.

Same problem. Turned off sync, relaunched, and tried selecting File/Syncing… iCloud, but MD just beeped. Suggestions?

After turning sync off. Use toolbox extension advanced menu to force reset sync settings. Then try again. If the beep reoccurs, upload help/console.

Stuart, thanks, but no joy, still get the beep and no sync. Which portion(s) of the console log do you want? (There appear to be transactions in there.)

The whole thing really. It should be pretty safe.

Thanks for your quick response. There's definitely privacy stuff I don't want exposed. Can I encrypt it as a pdf and email or text you the key (I have your email address from a prior discussion)?

Ok. This is the problem error/clue in the log file:
ICloudContainer.isContainerAvailable():nativeGetICloudPath:null
MD is not able to get access to your iCloud data/folders.
So… do you have iCloud Drive turned on? Try setting that and then restart MD. Does the line above change to show a path?

…. Ie the null needs to change to a folder name.

iCloud was on. I kept trying the same thing hoping for different results (definition of insanity) but eventually it DID work, thank you so much!
Bonus: it now syncs in near-realtime, whereas with Dropbox it would only sync when I quit MD. Thanks again, Stuart!
