Shifting from iMac to iPad

I've used Moneydance on my iMac for years... and I'm now switching to use it on (and only on) an iPad. I've never figured out how to reinitiate my records in each new year... so my current file is filled with transactions for over 6 years!
When I trash my iMac and shift to my iPad Pro I'd like to start over... and also learn how to begin anew each calendar year.

First of all, do you recommend Moneydance on an iPad?

Not if you want the full Moneydance experience. There is only the mobile app which allows basic bank register entries. No investment accounts. No reports, nothing else.

There is no way to delete old transactions as an arching type function.

The current Mobile app requires a desktop system to function, it is not a standalone program.

    Hi Rusty,
I can see you’ve received some replies from our knowledgeable Moneydance customers and it appears you’ve been given all the information you need.

The Moneydance mobile app is a free companion to the desktop version of Moneydance and is meant to allow entry and modification of transactions while on the go, as outlined in this article.

Your iPad requires the mobile app and a desktop installation is also required for syncing your data, as indicated here.

Please let us know if you have further questions or need more assistance.

I've recently decided to trash my old (and very decrepit) iMac... and go simply with a new iPad Pro (I'm using an older one here) combined with the iCloud. (And, of course, iPhone!). However that combo will mean a non-Moneydance bill payment and register, etc. I do not do online investment and more sophisticated transactions... I simply keep my account records and pay bills and write checks... simple stuff... but now unfortunately incompatible with Moneydance.

Thanks for your message which made this incompatibility clear... the mobile system in my iPad would still require a computer with the fully capable Moneydance to work with. <sigh>
