Downloading accounts
Greetings,
I'm trying to access online banking. Under SET UP MONEYDANCE, i can see my accounts and it tells me I'm connected to my bank, but my current balances are not reflected in MONEYDANCE. What else do I have to do?

If you are starting from scratch, realize the bank does not have your transactions for all history, but only for a period of time (and they are different - some banks will give you 3 months, some 6, some more).
So unless your account is less that those few months, you will not have a complete history, but will have to set an initial balance that is then altered by what is downloaded. Given the initial balance might be who knows what (since you don't necessarily know how much is downloaded), the easiest way to do this (once) is to figure out what the initial balance "must have been" to make the current balances correct.

Greetings,
I'm demoing online banking with MONEYDANCE and would like to sign up for a year subscription which I believe was $40. I don't see a way to do that in MONEYDANCE. How do I sign up?

Interesting question, I thought I knew the answer, but the kb articles suggest your question isn't how you do this [keep using the demo, but start using md+]
It appears that since you haven't purchased MD, you sign up for the $9/month $90/year subscription to both MD and MD+...
Now, I know you get a 30 day free bit with the $40 purchase (i.e. you also bought MD already), and I would assume you get 30 day free with MD/MD+ subscription, but I honestly don't know. Given I think the best option long term (I'm just a user, but I have an opinion) is to buy the $65 version and sign up for the $40/year MD+, if you can get the 30 days free, I'd sign up for the $9/month, and then cancel that one, whichever way you decide.
To customer support, did I get that about right? Most everything is automatic with purchasing, but this way (which I feel is a normal way to go) requires customer support intervention at some point.

I looked a bit further and I note the $9/$90 option does have the 30 days free, and it says it collects $0 at this point (I didn't go far enough to see if you have to supply a credit card, or how to cancel) - but that's one way to keep going with the demo for 30 more days and with MD+ before you make a final decision.

Thanks for the input. I was on day 20 of my trial of MD+ and set to renew monthly. I cancelled that subscription and went into the ONLINE MD + (set up) and instead of choosing MONTHLY ($4) I chose ANNUAL (~ $3). They even gave me an additional 30 day trial. Can't beat that! Anyway, that's how you switch from a monthly subscription to annual subscription.

Thanks for the info - I try to be a "knowledgeable user" as customer support calls quite a few of us, but I don't tend to pay much attention to the purchase process anymore.

The difference between the monthly vs annual sub is only about $8 per yr. but that's $8 dollars I can waste somewhere else ;)

And the $65 purchase includes one free (next year only) upgrade, so that saves a buck or two as well.... go splurge, buy a pizza, and don't forget to enter that pizza purchase into moneydance.... :)
