Disable automatic downloads?

My downloads from MD+ are now occurring every time I launch the application, and I prefer to trigger downloads manually (using shift-command-D). Is there a way to disable the "Automatically Download in Background" option? If I remember correctly, there used to be a setting in Settings-Network, however that option is no longer listed as a selection (at least in this MD version).
