Problems setting up online banking
What am I doing wrong?
Fidelity - seems to be okay.
...I have one each Fidelity and Moneydance Fidelity account. The first time I tried downloading I accidentally hit the OK on 1 security before selecting its match. I tried the process to REMOVE the mismatched security and when I checked the register it appeared that all my transactions for all securities had disappeared. I panicked so restored from a previous backup and the second time I matched all investments correctly. Both times I believe were downloaded for Dec 1 2024.
Janus - only asked to match 1 of 2 securities
...I have one each Janus and Moneydance Janus account. The first time I set up the online banking and downloaded ALL AVAILABLE instead of Dec 1 2024. The download only asked to link one of two securities and downloaded 2023 and 2024 transactions for that one. I deleted the 2023 transactions and the portfolio view shares are correct for both securities.
T Rowe Price - only asked to match 1 of many securities and then added the one transaction for that security into all 3 TRP accounts plus adding the security to two wrong accounts
...I believe TRP has a different account number for each security in each category so I basically have many accounts at TRP (?). I have three Moneydance TRP accounts: IRA, Roth and TOD. I opened the TOD account and download from Dec 1 2024. It only asked to match 1 security which is in the Roth account, downloaded the same transaction to all three accounts and finally added the security to the two accounts that did not have it before the download. It did not add the other side of that transaction probably because it didn't ask to match that security.
Vanguard - may be okay; will not know for sure until I get transactions at the end of the month
...I have two each Vanguard and Moneydance Vanguard accounts: IRA & TOD. I opened the TOD account and download from Dec 1 2024. I believe it matched all funds including the ones that are in the IRA account. No transactions were downloaded but none were available.

Hi Leslee,
We are sorry to hear about the problem you have encountered.
In order to determine what might be causing the problem, could you provide the information below:
Which version and build of Moneydance are you using?
To check, open Moneydance and select Help --> About Moneydance
Do you use Direct Connect automatic downloads or do you download files from the banks website?
If you download from the banks site, which file format do you use?
ie.:QIF, OFX or QFX file format
Thank you

Thanks! Version is Moneydance 2024.2 (5172) and i am using Direct Connect for all 4.
I think these are issues with the security companies, not Moneydance but they all say to contact "Quicken" since that's what I told them I am using for Direct Connect. And all of them said to use my normal online connection criteria... no special signons.

Would you be able to send us a copy of your Moneydance error logs? The logs should include information on what might be causing the issue.
You could navigate to Help->Console Window and click the arrow (at the bottom left). Select Copy to Clipboard and attach or paste the full content in your next reply.
Alternatively, you should navigate to:
Local Disk(C:)>Users>Your Name>.moneydance>errlog.txt
Finally you can copy the full content into your next reply here.
Thank you

If it makes a difference I went through the securities in this order:Fidelity, Janus, TRP Roth / IRA / TOD, Vanguard IRA / TOD. Vanguard was the only one that asked for a date.

I don't know if this is an issue or not but I have Moneydance in both 32-bit and 64-bit folders. The 64-bit has this MONEYDANCE.VMOPTIONS file (goes back to when I was having issues in 2023 & 2024 with Moneydance 2008):
# If you'd like to customise the java launch settings, create file called vmoptions.txt at the path below and put your custom settings there.
-include-options ${HOME}/.moneydance/vmoptions.txt
-include-options ${HOMEDRIVE}${HOMEPATH}\.moneydance\vmoptions.txt
# PLEASE NOTE: If you make changes to this file (instead of the one referenced above) then
# those changes will likely be overwritten the next time you update or reinstall Moneydance
# Below are some example entries that you might add to the vmoptions.txt file mentioned above.
# The file format expects one entry per line, and ignores lines that start with a #
# For example, the following line sets the maximum memory usage to 80% of the amount of physical memory in your computer.
#-XX:MaxRAMPercentage=80
# Or, the following line sets the maximum memory usage to 2GB
#-Xmx2048m
# to set the maximum memory limit to 4GB, remove the # from the following line
#-Xmx4096m
# If you use Linux or FreeBSD, the following lines can adjust the UI scaling factor, which may be useful on high-res displays
#-Dsun.java2d.uiScale=2
#-Dsun.java2d.uiScale.enabled=true

Actually I would prefer not to have to deal with the Java settings since I don't understand any of it. It's just that the file is a carryover (in my mind at least) from when I was trying to get Moneydance 2008 working in 2023 & 2024.
Did I screw up this thread by posting 2 replies in a row? It looks like your response was added to my message?

Java settings have no relationship to online banking. Your file shows none are being used from that file, and that is not a Moneydance 2008 Moneydance options file.
With recent versions of Moneydance the software overwrites that file on each install and if you are using options you create a options text file in your Moneydance home folder. I suspect you have never done that.

I believe I did play around with the VM options file in 2023 for the 2008 version. I tried changing the max memory to 2048 but that didn't help. I brought it down to 1536 and that worked okay for about a year. But then around August or September of 2024 Moneydance 2008 wouldn't open again. That's when I upgraded to Moneydance 2024. This is the VM options file that is in 32-bit Moneydance.
# Enter one VM parameter per line
# For example, the following line sets the maximum memory usage to 1GB
#-Xmx1024m
# to set the maximum memory limit to 2GB, remove the # from the following line
#-Xmx2048m
-Xmx1536m
# To include another file, uncomment the following line:
# -include-options <path to other .vmoption file>

Is it possible to fix this or should I try a different downlaod method?
