Auto Fill in download window

Realize this isn't the end of the word problem, but an annoyance. Neither manual nor automatic download window will auto fill in the user ID field but automatically put the cursor in the password/PIN field. Is there a way to correct this? I'd prefer for the username to be auto fill and the only manual input from me would be the password/PIN field. Note the cursor location in the screenshot. Using 2024.2 (5172) ver.

The way the software has been geared so it either stores the Username/Password in the data file in encrypted form, or you enter the details manually each time. It has never had the capability to just store the Username.

If this is what you want then I think it would have to be logged as a suggestion to be considered for a future release of Moneydance

Thanks dwg! What is the procedure to make the suggestion? Or do I just post
    it as such?

Support can either log it as such against this thread or if that does not happen, you can post a suggestion in the Suggestion's Forum to gain more visibility.

Thanks for the suggestion for improving Moneydance! I've filed a ticket in our ticketing system with your suggestion, so the developers will be looking into it.

I'm a bit confused here. Moneydance does already store the username that is used when connecting to OFX services such as PNC Bank - Direct Connect. It will only store the password in the file if you have turned on that option in the window shown when selecting the File -> Passwords menu.

There are two reasons I can think of why it might not store the username:

    1. If you haven't successfully logged in to that specific OFX service already, or perhaps just not for the selected account.
    2. If the server most recently returned an invalid-password response, or other authentication error message when connecting to that account, then Moneydance will possibly clear the remembered username (and password).

I definitely recommend setting a password to protect your moneydance data file, and turning on the option to store online banking usernames and passwords in your file by selecting the File->Passwords menu.

    Thanks,
    Sean

Sean, thank you so very much for the explanation! Didn't realize the PW
thing was even available and have been using MD for 2+ years now. Download
window has disappeared and no more input of Username/pw required. Just one
more question. Is it mandatory to have the Master PW in order to open
program? Or can that box go unchecked?

In order to be able to enable the “Store Online Passwords in File” option, you should set a Master Password, first.
Generally, if you would like Moneydance to remember your passwords for automatic downloads, you can select the “Store Online Passwords in File” option.
After enabling this, you'll need to enter your login credentials once more, before they're stored, as outlined in this article in the Knowledge base.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions or need more assistance.
