I'm considering buying Moneydance. I want to know which of my bank accounts will work with OFX and/or plaid.

I know this changes over time as banks add & drop support for protocols. But ... it seems like there should be some way to check the current state of affairs.

My banks are: Ally, BECU, and Fidelity Investments. But I'm interested in a general answer ... how to see what banks support what ... as this may influence banking decisions. I want to use banks that play nice with aggregator like plaid.

Also, for Plaid, my understanding is they use whatever authentication is available. If oAuth is available they use it, but if not they will store username / password. It would be good to know which banks support oAuth.

OFX is easy Moneydance provides a list.

Plaid is a bit more catch 22, they do not provide a public list.

While the Moneydance team is considering implementing a way of seeing all the banks supported by Moneydance+ via Plaid without signing up with Moneydance+ or Plaid in any way, for the time being the only options are:

    1. Create a free 14 day trial account at Plaid and use this to search for your institutions.

    2. Take advantage of the free trial period for Moneydance+

    3. Post your bank names to the forum and an existing user may have a look for you.

Using the 14-day trial you can create a free account at: https://my.plaid.com by clicking GET STARTED at that link. This Plaid account has nothing to do with Moneydance, but it enables you to see the banks supported by Plaid. As part of creating a Plaid account you provide a phone number so that when you sign into Plaid it can use two step verification.
Once signed into your Plaid account you can then click the link to Add an Account.

You get the same screen as if you were in Moneydance+ and you can check the list to see if your Banks are supported.

For Moneydance+ follow the instructions detailed in the Moneydance Knowledge Base.

Moneydance has no way of knowing if a token is being used or if the connection is based on username/password, that is being handled by Plaid. The initial way you set up the connection can provide a guide.

Wow what a prompt and informative response! Thanks!

One vote for a scheduled job which pulls the list of supported
institutions from plaid and dumps them to static webpage.

One comment - Fidelity will not work with Plaid, but at this time they still support OFX, which is built into Moneydance as Direct Connect.
