Question about Moneydance+
I have used Quicken for decades and recently purchased Moneydance. I'm still setting things up. What I am looking for is a way to download transactions from my banks and pay bills, as well as analyze spending trends. From what I have read, MoneyDance+ provides a more automated way of downloading transactions than regular MoneyDance, but does not allow for paying bills yet. Is that still true? If you can't pay bills through MoneyDance+, can you still pay bills through regular MoneyDance?

Hi Terry,
Thank you for contacting Moneydance support.
Unfortunately Moneydance + doesn't support Online Bill Pay as outlined in this article of the Knowledge Base.
That being said, please stay reassured that the development team are currently working to find a suitable replacement to allow our customers to use a similar service in the future.
We have created a ticket in our system for this issue and I have attached it to this discussion now. We will post on this thread as soon as there are further developments on this topic.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions or need more assistance.

Which banks would you use it with?
Do they support Direct Connect?
Currently, Moneydance supports automatic downloads using Direct Connect (mainly in the US) or Moneydance + (US and Canada).
If your bank/s support Direct Connect, they might also support Bill Pay.
For further details, please refer to this article of the Knowledge Base.

I pay all of my bills through PNC bank. They do have Direct Connect and
a bill pay function built into their website. So there is a workaround,
but a fair amount of setup to pay all my bills. If I went with
Moneydance+, could I pay bills through the normal Moneydance app until
the bill-pay feature is added to Moneydance+?

Is there a specific reason for wanting to use Moneydance + to link with PNC?
Generally, when a financial institution supports Direct Connect, we recommend using the OFX service method.
Firstly because it is free, secondly because the downloads are immediate as these do not require the intervention of an aggregator as it happens with Moneydance +, thirdly as you can use ‘Bill Pay’(as required).
So, since PNC supports the OFX method, we would recommend disconnecting it from Moneydance + and re-creating the OFX Connection as outlined here.
In order to achieve this navigate to Online menu-> Set up Moneydance+ and where it reads "Connected" on the right, click and select disconnect in the popup.
Finally, restart Moneydance.
Your bank might require you to enable your accounts for application-based online banking and you can accomplish this by asking your bank to set up your account for direct connections from Quicken. Moneydance uses exactly the same OFX server connection protocol as Quicken but your bank representative may not know this and mistakenly believe that you can not connect in Moneydance.
Calling up your bank and stating precisely the following should get you started:
"Please enable direct connect on my account such that I can connect to your servers directly with Quicken. Also give me the login credentials I need to connect Quicken to this service."
Application-based online banking often requires a different login/PIN than the ones that are used for ATM or web-based banking. When you enable your account for access from Moneydance or Quicken, your financial institution should let you know what customer ID/login and PIN to use.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions or need more assistance.

I am trying to duplicate the functionality afforded by Quicken's "One Step
Update". With this you can do whatever you need to do offline (e.g.
scheduling bills to be paid, transfers, etc.), then activate "One Step
Update" and the app downloads all transactions for accounts setup for that,
and pays bills accordingly.
