Zions Bank abandoning direct connect

I just got an email saying Zion’s Bank is abandoning direct connect on October 30 because Quicken is abandoning its desktop application.

I use Plaid to connect to my Zions accounts. Will Plaid still work after October 30? Does anyone know?

   I have not seen any signs that Quicken is abandoning their desktop application, so I question that statement.

   Direct Connect provides a direct interface between Moneydance and the institution without the need to use an Aggregator.

   It is not directly related to using Moneydance+ and Plaid. It comes down to how Plaid get the transactions from Zion and what arrangements they have in place with the institution, none of which they disclose to anyone.

   Direct Connect is being discontinued due to changes announced by Intuit®, which provides connectivity services for QuickBooks® and Quicken®. Direct Connect only works with desktop accounting software, and those desktop products are being retired. This change applies to customers currently using Direct Connect with Quicken® or QuickBooks®desktop software. As this legacy technology is phased out, Direct Connect will no longer be supported after October 30, 2026.

   The statement is a little disingenuous, blaming desktop software, when it is the banks abandoning it in favor of aggregators.... Plaid should continue fine, as it is an aggregator.

   Aggregators have also been known to use Direct Connect to retrieve transactions.

   Intuit provide aggregation services for Quicken, I believe that was the agreement after Intuit sold Quicken, however there is no real link between what services Intuit provide to Quicken and the support for Direct Connect.
