I have a capital one cc and a Menards cc which is from capital one bank. Not sure why but I paid both the same amount on the same day. My question is this...is there a way to know which is which when they both say capital one payment?

MACtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/475125922019-08-15T08:27:55Z2019-08-15T08:27:55ZCredit Cards

Hi Mac,

Thank you for your message and I'm so sorry for the lack of response here. There's no excuse for that!

To answer your question, the only way to tell apart two downloaded transactions for the same amount and date would be using the description or memo fields provided by the bank in the download. When downloading or importing downloaded files, Moneydance will put the description and memo from the download into the description and memo field of the moneydance transaction. However, during the cleanup and confirmation process the as-downloaded description and memo can sometimes be replaced with a "cleaned up" version based on previous similar downloaded transactions. If this has occurred for you, you can always see the original description and memo for any transaction by holding the alt key (aka the 'option' or ⌥ key) while hovering the mouse cursor over that transaction in the register. If you'd like even more detail (basically everything Moneydance knows about the transaction, including a copy of the original imported transaction, you can right-click (or ctrl-click) on the transaction and select Transaction Details from the popup menu.

Please let me know if this doesn't address the question, and I'll have a talk with our team to prevent this kind of unacceptable delay from happening again.

Thanks,
Sean
