MD V 2019.3 (1880)

Greetings. I am a satisfied MD client and have been for many years. interesting occurrence this week with importing bank-sourced QFX files that I need help.

I've ben downloading for years without incident, but this weekend the same import of QFX files resulted in a duplication of records that required to be merged. Opening the file attached the records to the correct account, and selecting MERGE instead of confirm limited the damage. Problem is that when I imported again a few days later (expecting this tone a one time occurnce), the duplicative records appeared again to be reconciled. perhaps there is another option than QFX I should be using (screen shot attached) or a change in process with the latest update?

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

david dirigtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/475400002019-08-20T11:26:43Z2019-08-20T11:26:43ZBank download results in duplicative files (650!) MD V 2019.3 (1880)

I am not support staff, just a user.

OFX/QFX files should contain a "Unique Transaction ID" (FITID) for each transaction. Moneydance uses this ID to prevent duplicates.

The following is an extract of one transaction from my credit card downloaded OFX file. Note the FITID number.

DEBIT

<DTPOSTED>20190806000000</DTPOSTED>
<TRNAMT>-2.90</TRNAMT>
<FITID>20190806000000001</FITID>

<CARD>Visa</CARD>
<MEMO>On S XXXX/2.90 POUND STERLING GREAT BRITAIN</MEMO>
</STMTTRN>

I am running Moneydance 2019.4(1884). It does not matter how many times I import this file the transaction only appears once.

Worth opening your OFX file from your bank to make sure they have included a FITID for each transaction.

Also If you right click on a transaction imported via a OFX file and select “Show transaction details” it should include the FITID

Hope this helps.

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/475400002019-08-20T14:02:23Z2019-08-20T14:02:24ZBank download results in duplicative files (650!) MD V 2019.3 (1880)

Good moring,

Thank you. That makes sense.
Might be on the bank side if they are no longer including the FITID.

I appreciate the lead.

Best way to check is open the OFX file in a text editor and check each transaction is formatted with a FITID in a similar manner to the example I gave.

Hope this helps.

derekkent23
